Are You Willing to Be Yourself?steemCreated with Sketch.

This week I’m feeling raw, fierce, and unapologetically me. I’m writing from this place in my heart, hoping to strike a cord in that wild nature of yours as well. It could be the Hawaiian storms blowing through and affecting my mentality and mood. It could be that like many others, I’m undergoing massive spiritual, emotional, mental and physical shifts at this point in time. Whatever it is, I’m here to share my truths. Here I am, naked and unafraid to be vulnerable.

When was the last time you connected with someone without guard, judgement or worry? When was the last time you have connected with Yourself without judgement or acquired projections from others'?

I overhear numerous conversations where complaints are thrown back and forth,
"No one is real anymore!"
"I barely have meaningful conversations,"
and the like. Why is it this way? When did it become an accepted norm that in our society we are more superficial than substantial? I'm here to change that.

For me personally, I'm learning to give space for my true Self to be present at all times and with everyone I interact with. Being authentic and genuine with every situation is a skill and one that I'm striving to excel at. I'm learning to identify when I am being authentic and when I'm trying to be someone other than myself.

With this rekindling of Self, I've been going through stretches where I feel as if I'm going crazy (in the amazing-crazy way). I'm no longer so anxious when around certain people. I'm becoming more comfortable in my own skin. I'm not worried about shinning brightly, I used to be worried that I would make other people uncomfortable with my confidence, joy or pleasure so I would shrink in their company. That shrinking benefited no one, and I only suffered from it.

I have recently acquired a new position as a fine art photography consultant at a local gallery in the nicest part of the island. The most attractive aspect of working with this gallery is that it is run and operated by a team of young, driven and successful individuals. The owner and artist, Aaron Feinberg is only 34 years old. The rest of the staff are of the same age or younger. The glowing philosophy of this gallery is not of the typical cut-throat sales-sharks. They prioritize and advocate the art of mastering the Self, and being yourself.

This blew my mind! For all the different businesses and companies I have worked for, none of them truly marked this philosophy with the same importance that aFeinberg Gallery. When shadowing one of the lead consultants, I observed his technique and his approach. He obviously mastered the art of conversing and providing knowledge of the pieces, but what I saw that really moved me was that he is ALWAYS being himself. He doesn't try too hard to appeal to the clients, he reads them intuitively and gives them space. He has told me his favorite memories of being in the gallery are those incidences where he has moved clients to tears with his personal experiences. He expressed to me that when he isn't doing the greatest, it's because he realizes that he's in a "sales mode". His average monthly gross stands at $25-$50,000 a month in sales.

I’m willing to pour out my heart and soul onto the screen so that you can see me as I am. The masks I’ve worn in the past are tucked away in a dusty victorian chest in the closet. In my short time on this planet I have learned that keeping up with the multitudes of facades is an exhaustible way to die. That inner Self, the real You - is like a drying seed, waiting to be watered and tended to. I’ve felt that hunger and that thirst, it hurts. Denying your true form the experience of full expression is a sure-fire way to destroy any hopes of having real fulfillment and sucess in life. By success, I mean it in the broadest sense. Success in your professional and career life, your intimate relationships and love life, and your deeply personal and unique life as an individual.

I’m here to invite you to place your trust in me and take what I have to say with a grain of salt (that has the potential to change the flavor of your whole life perspective). I hold no judgements, I have no idea what you have been through, where you have been, where you want to go, who you want to be.
But I truly believe you have the capacity to create a life beyond your wildest dreams.
There are many paths that one can take to a happy and fulfilled life, but it all begins with the ability to live as your truest Self.
When you live from this place you have access to joy, pleasure, peace and unlimited love.
Joy and pleasure are your birthright, if you are open to allowing them to lead your life.
Now there is a definite line between joy and temporary enjoyment. Those fleeting moments generated by dependent experiences will not truly fill your cup.

Joy is the state of being where your ability to find peace is not dependent on circumstance.
Joy, like Love is the force of nature that fuels the long nights and arduous climb up to your destined mountainous goals.

When I'm being Myself I FEEL:

-At ease, confident, accepting
-Joyful, Inspired, intuitive, engaged
-Connected, dialed-in to the Universe and its symbolic language
-Supported and deeply loved

When I'm NOT being Myself I FEEL:

-Anxious, apprehensive, doubtful
-Irritable, defensive
-Indecisive, confused
-Not supported, alone, disconnected

With every conscious moment, you are choosing this reality.
When you have truly accepted and realized this, you have all the power in the world to affect the gravity of your thoughts.

Now I ask you with utmost authenticity:

Are you willing to be yourself?

Are you willing to release and let die, the old masks and identities you no longer believe in? Are you ready to embody the eager and hungry, Self that wants to emerge now? This hunger is not for material gains, this emptiness reflects the desire to reconnect with the deepest part of You.

I believe you have the capacity to face those fears that have haunted you until this point.
Find the power that lies in rebellion, the force that will lend you momentum to change your entire perception of who you are.

Now, I'm here to hear! If you want to share any personal experiences, have any questions, or would like to talk more about these concepts. I'm here for any support you may need, there is a world of resources if you only learn to ask and receive help!

And with that, I'm out.

Well said! I like how you describe your emotions. I am on a similar journey right now. And I feel the same. Just calm and connected to everything around me. It's so much better to know that people like the real you and not just a role you are playing trying to please everybody.

Thank you @sonea! I'm glad to hear you resonate with my similar experience :) I feel like it's liberating to finally come into my own freedom in being myself! I still have a lot of work to do but it's the progress that counts!

This really hit home for me. Thank you for posting it!

Thank you @rebelmeow !! I'm glad it resonated with you! Do you feel that you are being true to yourself most days?

Interesting first question, I can't say I've ever really been anything else, so I can't answer that question, so apologies for that ;)

'Wild Woman, muddy Dakini-Dion playing in a tree' is going down well with my Israeli falafel & hummus lunch though!x

Nice post! I nominated you for project curie :)

Haha thank you! :) I appreciate the nomination

This post spoke to me and am sure will speak to most people. We live in a society that cultures you to hide away your emotions and sees openness as a weakness. I want to start a video blog soon, I guess that will be my test of whether I am willing to be myself and expose myself to the cruel world. I guess it takes getting used to and over time you become more and more comfortable the more you push yourself to be free.

@joechacho thank you for your feedback! I would love to see your videos when you start posting, it's a great way to challenge yourself to be authentic and also touch people in a more visual way! I would like to start video blogging as well, maybe we can connect our content somehow in the future :) haha
