If you ever wondered how many millionaires are in the United States a new study has provided the answer. There are 10.8 million millionaires in the United States in 2017.

This is a lot of people. Does it mean that being a millionaire isn't the same as being "rich" in 2017? In your opinion what is being rich in the United States in 2017?

One way many Americans reach this status is through real estate. At the same time we may be in a bubble.

I reckon we'll be seeing many new crypto-millionairs over the next few years.

Great post!!!

I don't consider a million rich. At this point, that would give you a nice retirement. But would it be able to last possibly 30 years of retirement? With inflation or other issues that arise?

I would say a million for new people in the work force would not be hard to achieve, depending on career choice and spending habits.

I feel rich is the idea of not having to worry much about money. You could comfortably make it through retirement easily.... and be able to buy many things others wouldn't be able to do as they budget hard.

This is merely evidence of the problems with fiat currency and fractional reserve banking.

It takes $1.2M today to equal the buying power of $1M from just 10 year ago.

The Federal Reserve is the real enemy.

I wouldnt consider $1 million rich either. $1 million is a lot of money, but you need way more money than that to live sufficiently for retirement.

But it is a great staring point to earn even more income.

...and I'm not one of them. In all seriousness though, I would consider having a million dollars as being rich. It doesn't buy as much as it would have 20 years ago, but it still goes a long way.

I think Warren Bufet is a millionaire man and he has not a lot of real state properties, he has a lot of assets portfolio and receive incomes every day in different kind of business.

Don't put all your eggs in the same basket.

10.8 million millionaire is a big number. The Americans are able to expend so many millionaires .. it is great for the Americans ... what is the next state of America

A million gets a nice house, two cars and two kids' college paid for in full. It's a comfortable life and financial freedom. In my opinion being rich means your children's children are set for life. Probably the $7.5-10M range.

1 million sounds middle class from how you describe it. 7.5+ million is officially rich?

Exactly.

Most of them are BTC early adopter.

This is interesting, I never knew that

The problem with wealth disparity is that for everyone who is fairly wealthy it takes a multitude more people making a much lower wage to sustain that higher wealth accumulation. The more millionaires or really wealthy people there are in a country the smaller the middle class will be and the greater the poverty.

I wouldn't consider them rich if it wasn't for crypto currencies and especially steem. If they invest in steem, they'll have multi millions very soon. So, yeah I would say they're rich if they invest in steem lol
