Rat Race

in life •  6 years ago

“In 1939, Christopher Morley penned the words in his novel Kitty Foyle, ‘Their own private life gets to be like a rat race.’ The term rat race has evolved to describe the hopeless pursuit of a good life always just out of reach-a treadmill on which we can’t stop walking or we fall off. Many of us today are trying to win the wrong race.”

“Like a rat in a maze, the path before me lies. And the pattern never alters, until the rat dies. We are trapped.”

“Today we are consumed by desires to buy things we don’t need, with money we don’t have to impress people we don’t like.”

“Today we are worn-out. Many who have chased their dreams lost their families. Too many children have grown up with an absentee father. Still the invoices of debts to accumulate the things we don’t need and don’t use arrived in the mailbox like clockwork at the first of each and every month.”

“1 Corinthians 6:12-‘I have the right to do anything,’ your say-but not everything is beneficial. ‘I have the right to do anything’ - but I will not be mastered by anything.”
