Flying into Colombia! My first thoughts...

in life •  7 years ago

In my last post I asked you to guess which country I was in. Congratulations to @abradamip5j who guessed first! I just sent you 5 SBD. The other correct guesses were from @eric-boucher @mohsene @valenttina @alexmejia.

My first thoughts of Bogotá

I flew into Bogotá and was immediately amazed at the city. It's an absolute metropolis and really stylish. The Colombians here all seem to enjoy a good time dancing and drinking. There are parties going on everywhere till very late (or early!).

You can see one building that stands out in the Colombia colours! This is Colpatria Tower which is about 200m tall. I since realised they often light it up in other colours.

From Bogotá we made our way up to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountain range to trek to the hidden lost city... stay tuned for Part 2.

Nice post Danny! I especially like the second picture taken from high up with a view over the tower lit up yellow, red and blue. There must be some REALLY high mountains on the edge of the city

Hi Danny, my name too is Daniel. I'm a perpetual budget traveler with about 10 years of experience. Seems as if we have different styles. I'm totally new on this platform about two weeks in. I was actually in Colombia just a couple weeks ago, Medellin. Now in Nicaragua, San Juan Del Sur.

I focus on the culture and how to extend your travels on a fixed budget. Maybe you want to check out my blog and compare notes. Totally blown away by your following and the amount of money you've made on here. I'm going to follow you, upvote given. If you could share any tips for success on this platform, I'd love to hear. Below you can see my new and improved intro. Thanks in advance. Daniel!

Is Coca-Cola almost free there? Enjoy your travels!

What do you mean with this?

I heard the price of Coca-Cola 2 liters is like 15 cents in Columbia.

A 1.5L Coca-Cola costs around €1.00 in a supermarket in Bogotá, the capital and where I'm from. In the last 2 years, the price of the Colombian Peso has gone down around 50% because of oil prices. That amount used to be around €1.50, which is not as cheap as you probably thought.

And it's Colombia, not Columbia.

Hi Danny , looks like an amazing trip! Beautiful photos have you been to other places in Colombia . like San Agustín Archaeological Park in huila or la piedra del penol in Medellin, Antioquia
