17 and Life | Our 17th Anniversary

Yesterday, I and @essiehime had a simple celebration of our 17th Anniversary as boyfriend and girlfriend. Yes, there is "forever".

April 2, 2001, at exactly 2:43 PM when @essiehime mouthed the sweetest word. Her "Yes". Over a glass of iced tea and a bowl congee in our Highschool canteen, days before her graduation and summer vacation, she uttered the most beautiful song I ever heard. "Yes", she finally said after a month of courtship.

I am in 4th year Highschool, while Essie is about to start college life when we started dating, which then thought was just a "puppy love" by our teachers as we both are in total opposite.

@essiehime is known by every teacher in our campus being great in every academic. While I am known being a "heartthrob" and always caught sitting in every internet café outside the school and playing Counter-Strike.

@essiehime is a favorite student of biology teacher back then, so am I. It was proven through taking the subject for 2 years instead of 1. Lol.

Essie is very active in every school programs while I am active playing around.

You're one of them, Ma'am!

Essie is one of my cadet officers during Highschool days. She is my captain (Until now though). One day, while I am walking around the campus, I accidentally bumped her. And I need to pay respect. So I stood up and served my snappiest salute. That moment I noticed how sweet her face is. It's like everything around us becomes slomo. While the wind blew her little bangs.

It is prohibited that a cadet to have a relationship with a higher officer to prevent favoritism. But who am I? I'm just weak and falling in love. So I decided to court her despite the policy.

Few days after, another cadet officer told me that Essie almost tore my picture because she is tugging it from another girl officer.

So, "you're one of them?" I said in a conceited voice. Lol.

We are not Perfect

Don't say that our love for each other is the perfect one. 'Cause we are not. Do you believe in the 3-5-7 prophecy? Which said to have challenges during 3rd, 5th and 7th year of the relationship that need to surpass in order to say that love is strong.

We broke up for a month during our 5th year. We separated due to some "confusion" issue. I felt the clouds fell down on me during those days. I tried to please Essie with a song, I serenade her, but every song I sing never went through her, unlike the time that I usually do. Every chord I play seems not in tune, my strings were new but sound like a tin can. It is the ugliest song I ever sing.

I please her as much as I could, I even run after the bus she was riding to her office. While carrying my guitar! (Korea-novela style). Yes! I am insane during those time doing awful things to win back Essie's heart.

But during those time, we have learned that there are other things that we need to do and care aside from each other. We learned that there are other people around us, such as friends and our family. We learned to see the other activities aside from texting each other. We filled our cellphones with other conversations that ours.
We learned to call friends from afar, and we learned that there are other people who take care of us.

But the broke never lead us to find another. We just stayed as a friend (I know it is BS) and rest our selves for a while. Until we talked about what happened, reminisce the moment we are together and happily, we went back the way we were and continue our relationship. A stronger relationship.

First and only

Essie is my first and only girlfriend. And I am to her. Believe me or not, there is no other woman I have ever slept with, and I am proud of saying that. I don't even look to other women.

After 14 years being together, we ring the bells and continued our journey together as husband and wife.

What's our secrets?

17 years being together being the "first and only" of each other, many would ask. What are our secrets?

This is the most difficult question we ever encounter. As there is no answer to this question.

We don't have secrets, I guess that's one. We don't have secrets with each other. There is no reason to hide bones in every closet we have. Why should we? If we have activities that are not in favor of each party, then we discussed it and make some adjustment. Sometimes we compromise. As long as it is not harmful to each other.

What else? hmmm. Honestly, there is none at all.

We just respect each other's view. We also have some misunderstanding sometimes. Most of the time we just sleep on it, and when ready, we discussed.

It just so happened that we both love to eat and stay at home. I love to cook and we both love to eat. haha.

Most of the time you can catch us lying in bed watching movies at the comfort of our home or hotel room. We are into any sports or any adventurous activities, though we are thinking of running at least, It is better to stay in bed for us than going out and sweat. But we love to if we are invited. Lol.

This is our story, 17 years of our life together and still counting for more. And Yes! there is Forever.
