The San Diego Regional transit system started construction of the Blue Line Light rail in mid 2017. The following photos are to show the progress through the San Diego Veterans Medical center and through the central campus of the University of California, San Diego.

I have been following the construction with great interest, as I used to ride the trolley to old town, and then transfer to a bus. I live closer and bike to work on campus now, but having this trolley extension is going to make life easier for a hundred thousand people in the very near future.

Buildings on far left are the Scripps Memorial Hospital, The Prebys Cardiac Center, The Ximed building, and between the trees, you can see the Trolley falsework, All on the east side of Interstate 5. On the right you can see the fresh falseworks above Warren Field.)
The project had a 21 year legal battle from a series of NIMBYs(Not In My Back Yard) in the wealthy neighborhood of La Jolla, with the claim being that poor people were going to ride the trolley up to La Jolla, to commit crimes. Well the rich folk lost, and very soon, students, staff and faculty will have the nicest ride in town, on an elevated train on this 9 mile extension.
