It's always a safe measure to sit with one drink of choice, to lay back after a long turning and toiling for a share in profit. You guarantee yourself a reinforcing of, first and obvious, taste and sharpening your tongues ability to pick up the subtleties and nuances of your choice of poison. You also reward yourself in this way with a familiar gift and one thing about us boozers is we're easy to please because of this. Rather that familiar bottle of Ardbeg 10Yrs Old for a gift than a surprise that's often an uncomfortable experience for both parties.

I'm not trying to make a case for the strictly familiar is life. Spontaneity is the spice of life, the wit in a boring world. That said, there is not denying that we all love coming home to something easy on the eyes, that which makes the the brevity of life something transcendant rather than for the strict pursuit of a covert compulsion towards flaring surprises.

It's awfully easy to be surprised by a plain surprise and it doesn't take much to be startled by one either, let alone come up with one.

A really treasure, the roast and sugar, is discovering smaller more meaningful surprises in the familiar life. There's more to be gained from a rediscovering and find of new depth in the old.

“There's an opposite to déjà vu. They call it jamais vu. It's when you meet the same people or visit places, again and again, but each time is the first. Everybody is always a stranger. Nothing is ever familiar.”
― Chuck Palahniuk, Choke

You write very well, and not just because it's about booze. I enjoy reading how you write, as much as what you write. Nice job! Cheers from @steempub-trail and the friends at #steempub!
