Why is age a quandary now?
In the UK some perfectly fine people are thrown on the scrapheap when they are 'older'. Everything is geared up for the young. Attempts are often made to shame older people into feeling guilty because they have a home and enough money to live on. No credit is given to them for working up to three jobs a week for years plus doing a weekend job too.
It's the rare young person who works like that nowadays.
I'm in between so I can see it from both points of view.
The Young Person's Point of View
Young people don't have work experience so may not be able to get the job they'd like. Benefits are easy to claim so it can be tempting to do just that.
Young people want to have a lot of possessions - the newest phone, the best tablet, belong to the coolest gym - you know what I mean? It's not fair when they don't have the money to buy all that and old codgers do.
Young people don't want to be restricted by budgets. And why should they be?
The young person is entitled to their own home just like mum and dad have. They are entitled to be able to eat well and have great entertainment whenever they want. That's what technology is for, you know. It's for young people.
The Older Person's Point of View
The older person who still has their health wants to carry on reaping the benefits of the career they have become expert in. They are skilled now so why shouldn't they be valued?
The older person has savings. They worked hard to reach this stage and may need those savings to live on if they become ill. Should they really be expected to finance the young?
The older person may look shrivelled on the outside but, hey, have you seen the tech stuff they have and use? Their homes can be a 'smart' bonanza!
What Has Gone Wrong?
So here is me, not young but not old, wondering is it nature's fault?
Should we have developed so that we didn't age on the outside?
Would everything be different if nobody knew we were old just by looking at us?
Or is it people who just think the scrapheap is all we are fit for if we get old?
What do you think?

A very important point for discussion. In our place, some ruthless people actually kill aged people or just abandon them in temple premises. If they have enough memory, the police escort them back to their houses and the children are warned not to repeat it and if they are beyond all that, the poor things are entrusted to old age homes where they wither and finally pass away

That is shocking and cruel. It seems to point to wicked people. The young have no heart when they do something like that!
