Thoughts on Consistency

Consistency is such an important aspect of my life. I believe it to be an important and fundamental aspect to every single successful person out there.

Being consistent in your day will allow you to accomplish exponential success at anything.

For example,

If you are trying to get yourself in shape, then the way to do it is through consistent actions.

Consistently going to the gym.
Consistently eating healthy.
Consistently drinking water.

If you've ever tried a simple regime in the hopes of trying to get in good shape, then you know the power of consistency.

Going to the gym for 1 day and then trying to go the next day is hard.

Going to the gym for 6 days in a row and then going on the 7th is much easier.

Habits build on themselves. Both good and bad. If you have the bad habit of smoking, then you will continue to smoke the more that you do it.

Another great example is in investing. When you invest consistently rather than emotionally, you gain the ability to separate yourself from the market and from other investors.

Most investors are thinking with their hearts and not with their heads.

That's why 90% of investors and traders lose money. They are following the irrationality of markets and are trading based on false information.

This is precisely why I don't watch the news or engage with mass media in any meaningful way.

I focus on what I know and I focus on using sound principles to make my decisions.

Note that when you hear someone say that "this is a perfect trading opportunity!" the opportunity is likely already gone.

How do you remain consistent in your own life? Be it in investing, health, art or what have you.

My friend you presented in a very simple way but have high content value. I gat a very good lesson. keep doing great.

You ask how we remain consistent in our own lives.... well thinking about my own experience I have found other people invaluable to keeping me on track. You mention going to the gym, I think the only times I really stuck to it was when I used to go with a friend and later with my wife. We encourage each other (more her encouragement than mine lol). I wouldn’t have done it on my own. The same for trading, I spent many months deeply engrossed in trading financial markets by myself... I nearly went crazy. I’m not sure it’s good to separate yourself too much from others, but I know what you mean about steering clear of the media, couldn’t agree more. Now I talk a lot with my cousin as he is also interested in investing, I get a lot of ideas and motivation from having that contact. That’s what keeps me consistently coming back.
