This story comes from a paper I did for my leadership class back in school. I spent a good week writing this paper, and ill only be sharing the narrative part with you guys!
“Whatever you are physically...male or female, strong or weak, ill or healthy--all those things matter less than what your heart contains. If you have the soul of a warrior, you are a warrior. All those other things, they are the glass that contains the lamp, but you are the light inside.”- Clare
The Leader Emerges
The group is loud; The group is rowdy; Indecisive. Unable to find direction, we bicker with each other on every premise and every idea that we give center stage to. We lean each way, with each topic, on each contradiction. We have lost the path, but we have not disobeyed our desire. We endure with the passion, but we have not the resolve to solve the complexity of emotions that cloud our minds. The air is thick to blind us, and soak our eyes with illusions. Blind in a land with no rules and obligations. A land dangerous if lost and confused. The desire to travel in each direction is the tear that breaks our group. The confusion grows ever so deeper, as time ever so passes by our shoulders; Making our ears cold and frozen, the winds bare pain on our shoulders. Like great towers we fall from the shoulders down. Infighting has become the religion of our discussions, and anger the catalyst. We are a family, bound not by blood nor desire of wealth, fame, nor greed. We hold bound by a dream; The unity that strengthens our journey begins to crumble. The enemies that manifest from our dissolution begin to enclose on us; Passionately kissing us into submission, making us think that we will be fine. Telling us lies, telling us stories, and confusing each one of us in a unique way, but with great result. The nights grow old and cold. We age with every second, seconds never to be seen again. Seconds so precious, we will realize only when time has closed its gates and our lives have withered. A dead flower. Division grows wider, that engulfs the group, until each one of us is ignorant, like a child in an unfamiliar place.
The spotlight falls on the opportunities we missed, as we move forward in our path. Oh how bright the trail we have made behind us. Oh how dark the horizon is.
Throughout history, throughout times of great confusion. A leader, against his will but willingly, chose to step up and transform the way others behave and saw themselves.
Across the dark, a bridge arose glistening white, as if a bride on the wonderful day of matrimony. Lit the path became, and we saw the cavern we so closely fell in. He told us we were strong in the light of suffering and blinding confusion. We became complacent; Decisive. We found direction. We bickered not on the premises of our ideas, but instead made ideas unity. We found order and safety in this dark and dangerous land. Our ears grew warmer and our shoulders manifested a strength of bisons, great large bisons. We made seconds last eons, seconds each child will talk of, each one of those long seconds. The enemies halt entrenched no longer able to advance, as we grow not in numbers, but in resolve. He stood at the end of the bridge, the beautiful white bridge, with character and a sense of great honor. He alone stood a great stance between our demise and our salvation. Actions became the fire within, a great fire that moves the limbs, the wits, and red blood of the cold corpses fallen long ago. His voice echoed and we followed the sound of reason. A sound so wise, that we could not feel nothing less than knowledge absorbed from his very own speech. He directed, orchestrated, and built us. We did not even know it happened; Until we succeeded relentlessly. He gave us the groundwork for us to be empowered and to lead ourselves. Equality, but under a wise leader, we could be all influential, but never loosing direction to indecisiveness.
*The story is meant to identify a group, under strictly transformational leadership, where each person holds a strong word in the actions of the group. The group, because of indecisiveness, needed a central leader to come along and redirect them.
