TRUISMS THAT AREN'T TRUE.

in life •  7 years ago

. The way to guarantee success is to work smarter, not harder.

This is a losing idea. You will find that effective leaders do both.

. Activity equals accompanishment.

Activity is not accomplishment. Hard work is not results. We should
not ask ourselves whether or not we're busy, but what we're busy about.
We serve a God who is interested in results. Each of us will give an
account of our own actions, not someone else's.

. Take care of things, and they will take care of you.

We should not take care, we should take control. If you don't take
control of your own life, somebody else will.

. Don't waste or kill time.

Although this truism expresses a good thought. It is really not accurate.
When you waste your time, you waste your life.

. If it's not broke, don't fix it.

Even when things are working, they still can be improved.

. What you see is what you get.

Christians are not to be moved by what we see but by the word of God.
We are to see the unseen in every situation. The unseen is really
more real than the seen.

.He is a self-made man.

There is no such thing. A person can succeed only with the help of God
and others, even here on steemit.

. Talk is cheap.

Talk is very expensive. What people say is ultimately what they get and
is what they pay for.

. Practice makes perfect.

No, perfect practice makes perfect. Wrong practice leads to wrong habits.
Perfect practice leads to productive action. Make sure that whatever you
do on regular basis is right, even here on steemit.

Hey this is a good myth buster, @digital-life! Some are quite amusing too, like this:

Talk is cheap.
Talk is very expensive. What people say is ultimately what they get and
is what they pay for.

Thanks for stopping by.

1: Work hard at being smart, so you don't have to work so hard...
2: Everything results in something, even inactivity. Question is, what is it, and what is it that you want.
3: Take care of yourself, because nobody else knows how to do it as well as you.
4: We get 24 hours every day, to do which ever way we please with it. We can save it, we can waste it, we can invest in short or long term. At the end of the day it'll be over, no matter what we do.
5: Bike mechanics like to say: If it ain't fixed, it's broken.
6: Look behind the scenes, and read between the lines.
7: The most important factor in any person's development is the person him/herself.
8: Gotta assess the value of each word. Sometimes it's very expensive. Other times it's not worth much.
9: There is no such thing as perfection, as everything can still be improved.
Thanks for the thought provoking thoughts!

This is splendid. Great lessons. keep up the good work.
