After the carnage that occurred with innocent people in Las Vegas, it is impossible not to comment on what happened and what we can do to avoid this happening again.
First, we have gun control. I know this debate is endless and as controversial and polarizing as the debate on abortion, gay marriage, and so on. But I will leave here my conclusions that I have drawn on this so far.
The biggest argument for those who oppose gun control is the right to self-defense. Now, here we have a clue to what needs to be done. Because if the right is to defend itself, then what is the logic of being able to buy weapon of attack, weapon of war? To my knowledge society is not so chaotic as to live in a civil war that requires all citizens to have a weapon of war at home. Let's leave the weapons of war for what they were planned, for the wars.
In conclusion, I am in favor of people possessing defense weapons (simple weapons such as revolvers, for example), but I am totally against selling war weapons capable of killing dozens and even hundreds of people on the pretext of "the right to self defense."
...and if a criminal comes at you with a "weapon of attack". what do you do then?
Barring the law abiding from owning anything, does not limit the ability of criminals from obtaining that which is barred.

The right to self defense is free or it's not, the appeals to emotion and popularity, and appeal from authority notwithstanding.

This ruse that 'less guns equals less violence' has been well and truly refuted time and again. More guns does indeed equal more GUN violence, but it also decreases other violent crimes by allowing the law abiding to protect themselves against criminals who will use knives, clubs, broken bottles, rocks, et cetera . It also decreases other violence, as the weak can protect themselves against those who do not abide by the laws.
I don't approve of these posts, but I would never let the 'consensus' define what my natural rights are.

...and pray tell what good do you think that will do? Look the fact is, if the S.W.A.T are at your door, then it means you're a serious criminal, so by all means shoot your way out of it.
However for normal people, you don't have to worry.
Besides that, let's take a scenario whereby the Federal government want to take you down for some nefarious reason. No amount of automatic weapons will help you. They have these things called tanks, oh and drones, so it's a pretty weak argument to say; "well we need our guns in case the government go bad".
That argument washed a couple of hundred years ago when the country was forming, now it's just plain stupid to allow so many people, such easy access to automatic weapons.
But of course you and millions of others will disagree, and you will continue to get mass shootings and deaths caused by toddlers finding their owners guns. . .
Death by toddler; you do realise America is the ONLY country in the world; where death by toddler is a recognised statistic?
More toddlers have killed Americans post 9/11 than Islamic terrorists, I mean, that is just a fact; it's time to take a long hard look at yourselves when 2 year olds are taking out a significant percentage of your population.
Anywho, I'm sure my rational arguments won't sway you one bit, and you'll go on thinking that militias, and being armed to the teeth is a great idea, and that easy access to firearms has nothing to do with mass shootings.

Calling the ability to defend yourself against your own government who I may add, have guns themselves has nothing to do with civil war and chaos. If your too much of a pussy be self sufficient and defend yourself from government and others fine, but leave the rest of us alone. Statistics are on our side and always have been.
