How to Make Better Decisions with the Pathfinder PrinciplesteemCreated with Sketch.

in life •  last year

We typically have two choices when making decisions:

The first choice is to decide for ourselves, or, more specifically, to base our decisions on our own ideas and life experiences. When you select this alternative, you will be left to handle all of the decisions and associated uncertainties by yourself. We all make mistakes and grow from them.

The second choice is to speak with what I refer to as a Pathfinder.

The Scout is a term used in military slang to describe someone whose goal is to educate others. He is the one who scouts out potential locations before providing those who remained behind with important information.

The Scout, when it comes to decision-making, is the person who has already made a choice that is identical to or similar to ours and who can offer us feedback. She is the one who has knowledge that can influence our choices.

How can the Pathfinder assist us in making wiser choices?

Consider yourself alone and lost in the jungle, attempting to locate your camp. You are unsure of where to go.

You decide to head north after giving it some thought. You cut your way through the dense forest with your machete. You travel for hours, sever vines, scale cliffs, and descend ravines. up until the point at which you reach a precipice. There is nowhere else you can go. You then make a U-turn and try to head in a different direction.

You moan incessantly for several days. To find your way, you put a lot of effort into it and make lots of errors. You finally reach your camp at the end of the fifth day, but you are worn out.

Now picture yourself in the same circumstance but with a Scout by your side. He is an expert on the location. He is aware of all the mistakes you will make because he has already made them. Following it, you reach the camp in a short period of time.

The Scout's interest is present. It helps you save time and effort. He can help you go faster and make the most of your efforts because he has already made the mistakes before you and knows what to do and what not to do. He can also respond to all of your inquiries, which will enable you to move forward with assurance.

What does that actually mean, then?

So, if you're a consultant, for instance, and you're hesitant to raise your prices, contact a consultant who has increased their prices in the past to get his opinion.

Consult a LinkedIn expert if you're unsure about canvassing on LinkedIn and wondering if it really works.

And if you're a new blogger unsure of the best way to develop a community, consult another blogger with more experience.

Do not be reluctant to consult these Pathfinders when making choices. You'll not only save time and effort, but you'll gain from the wisdom of someone who has already cleared the path in front of you.

Nevertheless, not all Pathfinders are created equal, despite the fact that they are a great help. You must understand how to surround yourself with positive people.
