Thoughts on a Halloween event I promoted

He Steemerz, jut stopping by for a quickie LOL

Recently I've been trying my hand at event promotion ( again). My latest event was a Halloween party / 5th year anniversary for my friends hair salon. Yeah it's a bit early but anytime is a good time for a Halloween party once its October. LOL

The truth is I'm not really into Halloween, but I did this event because it was something that adults and kids could attend and after discussing with the hair salon it seemed like a good idea. We held the event at a bar that had a decent space and entertainment area so we could do Halloween games with the kids and watch movies. We even had a best costume prize , 2 Tokyo Disney Land tickets ( Worth $140). We also had DJs on deck for the adults, and premium Indian curry catering. ( Japanese really love curry)

There was a decent amount of kids at the event and they enjoyed themselves. I actually wanted to give the Disney tickets to Peter Pan and his mom but there was a chick dressed as a Japanese style ghost ( like something out of the Ring movie but much scarier, when I get the pic I'll post it.)

The guy on the right is one of the salon owners/DJs and the devil on the left is his staff. Real cool guys. They went all the way out with the costumes. The devil and I were outside the bar for a sec waving at cars as they passed by. It was hilarious..... because people in Japan are still warning up to the idea of Halloween ( Tokyo is an exception). The funny part was when the costume contest winner came out to join us in the waving shenanigans, no one waved. THE COSTUME AND MAKE UP WERE THAT SCARY!

Business wise , the event was a flop, we actually ended up losing money, not a lot though. But the kids enjoyed themselves and I learned something. What did I learn? No more Halloween events for me, its not my cup of tea.

How about you? Do you like Halloween? Is it a celebrated event /money grab in your location as well? If so, what costume do you plan to wear this year?

Hahahaha. Nice read.
At least you know for certain it's not something you will be looking to make work.

Right!! I don't fear failing, I fear not trying. Then I can know if it ain't for LOL

Awesome! I'm not that interested in Halloween myself... I also think it's a money grab. There used to be no tradition of Halloween in my country but in recent years, the trend was imported from Hollywood movies. It's sad.

Obviously, I'm not planning to wear a costume. That's not my thing.

Thanks for your article!

Yeah Hollywood has plastered the world with the money grab style of Halloween, sad indeed. Was talking to a friend last night in the states, he said he makes his kids go trick or treating but doesn't make them eat the candy but instead he buys what they will eat.
