Fined/Threat of Police for DTubing in a Mall? Should this be prohibited? [DTube Exclusive]

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

So far I'm 0/2 when it comes to vlogging in malls/walmart - LOL

I think I'm taking way too long to setup. I will not give up though! Just went I got my lighting, audio and frame all setup, security came and stopped me!

I think we should have the freedom to film in places like malls/shopping centres. We should have the right to and just because some giant corporation/conglomerate downs the place, doesn't mean they should be able to stop us from filming. Even on our phones!

What do you guys think?

How...really??? I filmed my valentines day video at walmart and i had no issue. Bear in mind it was 9am in the morning. Sorry to hear ppl dont like free advertising

At the same time they feel pretty comfortable filming you. I am sure there were security cameras everywhere.

Yeah man, believe it or not I used to work mall security but our mall had their own police department too. And people who asked questions like you ended up having the police in their face in seconds. I always thought it was stupid. If you aren't doing it creepily or disturbing business, there should be no issue. If anything it's free advertising.

Oh well man. Come down to Queens, security here doesn't care 🤣

Which lense did you use man? :) Btw thw whole thing sucks... it is really sad especially in this day and age

Welcome to my world of concert videos. People think you just go, set up a camera and press record, lol! Wish I had the lighting you had in that Mall, ha ha ha. Next time call management, make arrangements and get permission in writing. This saves a lot of time and trouble. A feature I used in YT was private video so all parties involved could see the video before publication and still change their mind if there was something they didn't like. Greetings!

Lol!! Seriously?? They stop you for that??! What the hell?? It's really ridiculous. I've never experienced that before man, but brother! It shouldn't stop you from vlogging in public :) just do it somewhere else ;)

Winny out...for now ;)

Malls and stores are privately owned establishments with their own rules. Moreover, most places have laws that make the establishment liable if someone is filmed without their consent (ae: someone walks through your frame).

If you want to blog on someone's private property (Mall/Walmart etc ...), call the manager ahead of time. Tell them what you are blogging about, have copies of "release to appear in media without compensation" forms for anyone who your camera catches in frame (especially anyone you talk to).

If you are not disparaging their business, they will likely arrange a time and date that you can film.

Dude you look nervous hahaha.

I love your shades cuz we were able to see what you saw. Hey I'm proud of you for trying to move past your comfort zone. Great job!

we should vote against it, we always win, we creators.
