MINIMIZING YOUR CLOSET.

I remember a few years back moving from a 4 bedroom house to a small one bedroom condo. Even through I had downsized a lot of my personal belonging when I actually moved in I had to do a second right down to what I needed not want I wanted go over. Surprisingly with this simple, organized system it was a piece of cake. It was elating when I took bag upon bag to Goodwill for someone in need that really needed these clothes, shoes and purses whereas I had them stuffed in my closet some of them for years never used. Once I did my closet I went and did the same thing throughtout the condo. I didn't realize just how many junk drawers I had.

Minimizing Your Clothes

  1. Place every item of clothing that you own on the floor. Yes, every item must be on the floor of your house before continuing onwards.
  2. Double-check if you have everything. Check storage spaces, suitcases, closets, the car, etc.
  3. Go through each item one-by-one. “Does it spark joy?”
    If yes: Keep it.
If no: Put it in your discard box

What to do when it’s hard to let go of something

  1. Revisit the initial purchase/acquisition. Why did you buy it? What was it’s purpose?
  2. Thank the item for the role it played in your life.
  3. Let that item go, and continue moving forward!

Nice tips! One trick I use is to have a fixed number of hangers with a limit of 1 clothing item per hanger. That way, whenever I bring home a new article of clothing, I also know I need to choose something to donate. This helps keep the clutter at bay :)

Great idea. I love sharing ideas here on steemit.
