Insomnia: living at night and sleeping during the day ... is it wrong? Should I feel guilty?

Hello again Steemit Family!!!

Today I want to tell you something that has been happening to me since my teens: my love for the night. And please do not get me wring, I am not talking about parties or going out to bars or anything of that. Just ... from my high school days I discovered my taste for the night. Simply because it is at this time of day that I feel more productive, alert and even more efficient. But of course ... the model to follow is based in getting up early in the morning, having breakfast while watching the news, going to work with sad face and returning tired in the afternoon to have dinner and rest at night. Well ... it turns out that I´m not good at following the "role models" ... and I don´t consider myself a hardcore rebel ... I just like to live my life my way without letting the majority influence my decisions.

But of course, the whole world lives in the traditional way and if they see that you are going against the flow they see you as a strange/weird creature. Then comes the guilt, when you do not do what most do ... people judge you for being different making you feel guilty for simply wanting to live your way. The damned guilt ... brought by the church, is a feeling that we should eradicate, or at least leave it for some very specific situations. If you sleep late, you feel guilty. If you fail at getting a college degree, guilt. If you do not live the same way as most, guilt. Luckily over time and little by little I have been learning not to let guilt influence my decision making ... thus making me feel more free and authentic.

It is totally fine if most people like to follow the system, and if they feel happy that way I congratulate them. But it is not my case and what I would like is for everyone to make their living without comparing themselves with the one next to them. But we have been raised believing that criticizing the different is fine, without realizing that those criticisms hurt and bother. I do not mean to imply that I am an outcast or a social excluded, fuck no. I just have some habits that do not match with the majorities and quite often I feel judged for that. The truth is that each day this criticism influences me less ... I do not live to satisfy everyone.

And since I am no longer a child nor a teenager, I feel that I have the freedom to live my life as I feel like, and I do. When we are children we let ourselves be influenced by our parents and follow their rules or guidelines, and I think it's how it should be. But there is an age in which one should not follow the orders of anyone but oneself, and as we are free beings, we must enjoy free will.

At this point in my life (those are stages, we are changing beings) I find myself living at night and sleeping by day. For some months now I have come with this rhythm and the truth is that I really like it. Once a journalist asked Mariliyn Manson why he liked to live at night, if it was to avoid the day or the sun ... to which he replied: the people.

So what I want to say is do not be afraid to live your way, even if it is not the most common one. We are not sheep that we should follow others with eyes closed. We are thinking beings with the ability to make decisions. Take advantage of free will and you will see how good it feels. Do not live trying to please people you do not care, it makes not sense at all. Be yourselves no matter what the neighbor thinks or says.

nah man, do you. the world is global. you can find friends and people like you all over the world awake when others are sleeping. find them! :)

Its a bad habit and can ruin your brain powers , sleep is essential by all means , our brain needs complete rest for at least 6-8 hours.
