But why burn 20 packs of cigarettes? Most indoor smokers smoke one cigarette at a time. Even if they smoke nonstop I think the effect is less than that of this experiment

    You are right, but on experiments should be done outside of smokers in the room. Because the sample in the test is an ape animal.
