I was in serious need of a vacation this month. It had been 2 years since I had a vacation and working 55 to 64 hours a week was really wearing me down. So, we took our first trip to NYC. The baby's favorite part was the playground and climbing rocks in Central Park, not the museum, the One World Observatory, or even the ferry rides to Staten Island. She wanted to run and play so we went to Central Park several times during our 9 day vacation. There's so much to do in Central Park, the carousel, the ice skating, children's zoo, and the theatre. New York has a lot to offer whether it's a couple or family vacation. The One World Observatory tour (skip the line tickets online), Museum of Modern Art (free entry Friday evenings from 4 to 8 pm), Staten Island Ferry from Manhattan (always free) and the Top View bus tours are things you must experience while in NYC. I've attached photos of our experiences.
We utilized Air bnb for the first time this trip also. It was great to stay with a New York family and have them to give us tips and to interact with during our vacation though I think we will rent a whole apartment to ourselves next time just to have a little more privacy. But the experience was nothing short of amazing!!
So, a tip on getting around, the metro card can be bought at the train and bus stations for $33 for 7 days. The card will get you onto any bus or train in the city for 7 whole days. The baby can travel trains and buses for free but you must enter the entrances at the same time because you cannot swipe a metro card for 18 minutes after swiping (learned this the hard way).
The vacation to NYC gave me a whole new outlook on life and spending so much time working for someone else and missing out on what's happening with my own family most days. As a result, I have decided to dive into building my own business so I can be free to spend all the time I want with my husband and family because they are so worth it. See pictures of our vacation and follow my journey to financial freedom which I will posts blogs of often.
Here we go....
