Lunatic is a person who is considered to be mentally ill, dangerous or generally to have strange behaviour. The origin of the word comes from Lunacy -> Luna which mean in latin The Moon.
There have been quite a lot of statistics 'proving' planetary influences, particularly influence of Moon, on human and animal behaviour on the planet Earth.
