How we treat people matter alot because no one can predict the future. Just because you're in good place today and fortune is smiling big on you doesn't mean you should always step on people foot. Life is a big market where everyone is allowed to trade a and for the fact that you're a bigger shareholder in that market at the moment doesn't stop you from treating strangers fairly, hence the saying "First impression matters a lot".
A lectuter in my school named Izonfa was known for failing students who got his course carryover until their final year which might give them an extra year if the school doesn't wave the carryover during their final year results. Izonfa felt he was being a principled man who stood his grounds little did he know he was destroying his daughters job opportunity in the future.
There's this particular student in Engineering faculty named Timi who was also a victim of Izonfa's misdeed. He got an extra year just failing just Izonfa's courses(chemistry and physics) but finally graduated after his extra year exams. He secured a job in an oil company in Portharcourt where he was promoted to the position of a manager after 3 years of service in that company.
One faithful day, he was to interview applicants and the last applicant was Izonfa's daughter and her performance was mind-blowing, matter fact she was the best applicant fitted for the job but when Timi saw her full names, he asked if Izonfa from my school is her dad and she said yes happily. He said go and tell your father that that student he frustrated in NDU refused her a job because of his ill treatment towards him during his university days. Timi told Izonfa's daughter that she's best fitted for the job but he won't employ her because of what her father did to him so she left disappointed and angry at her dad.
Its funny that in our society today, so many kids get to pay for the sins and misdeeds of our parents which is why we should treat strangers nicely. Even in your workplace, at school, in church, at the bank or any social gathering, be nice yo strangers. You don't know who wwill help you tomorrow.
