Why Prince Harry Will Wear a Wedding Ring—Unlike Prince William

The Royal Protocol does not obligate married men to wear rings, but what choice does Diana's youngest son make?Ring of Royal brides – one of the favorite topics of discussion secular observers and the public. Now on the left hand Megan Markl flaunts luxurious decoration of yellow gold with three diamonds (two stones from the collection of Princess Diana) presented in honor of the engagement. The Duchess Catherine practically does not appear in public without an engagement ring with a sapphire and diamonds and an engagement ring. But with the men of the house of Windsor may not be the case.

As Royal expert Marlene Koenig explains,"there is no Royal tradition of men wearing wedding rings or engagement rings." It's a matter of personal preference.

Her Majesty's husband does not wear an engagement ring, although during the marriage Philip and Elizabeth made a ritual exchange of these symbols of marital fidelity. Prince Charles hides his wedding ring on the little finger behind the name ring-seal, so many believe that he also ignores this symbol of married status. Then all went to Prince William – he's got a wedding ring just yet. Even before the wedding day, the Royal House issued a statement that the Prince and his bride will exchange wedding rings, since His Highness does not like to wear jewelry on his hands. And, indeed, during the ceremony, William just put a gold ring on the ring finger of Catherine, but she only smiled in response.

Whose example will be followed by Harry after the wedding in may? It is difficult to predict as long as we can only wait. But it is possible that he still wears a wedding ring to make a pleasant to his chosen one. Anyway, among the commoners men wearing the rings after the wedding is much more important than the Declaration of their married status. This is a kind of vow of loyalty to his chosen one.

Now the rules of English etiquette prescribe a mandatory ring on the finger of a married gentleman. However, Koenig argues that this is a relatively new phenomenon. "In the UK, wearing a wedding ring men-a newfangled tradition. But among the aristocracy it is not common. Former Prime Minister David Cameron doesn't wear an engagement ring."

Noting the absence of Protocol requirements for the wearing of a ring by gentlemen, the expert recalls the tradition that Royal wedding rings are made of Welsh gold.

"In 1923, the Duke of York, the future king George VI, received a gold nugget from The clogau mine (North Wales gold mine). Nugget was enough to make rings for Princess Elizabeth, Princess Margaret, Princess Anne, Prince Charles and lady Diana Spencer. Now the Golden nugget is very small, but the Queen has received many other Welsh nuggets during his reign. She gave William gold for Catherine's ring and most likely the same will be done for Harry," explains Koenig.
