The new fitness craze

Seemed like every social media platform was out to get me. Always coming across multiple posts centered around distance running, cycling or fitness in general.

Becoming a marathoner was the next best thing since sliced bread. Well I thought 'they're all crazy' and 'I'll just keep ignoring them' will put an end to all the madness.

Enter 2020 and I've been sucked in. Now I know am not the most open person in the World, but I thought I'd share my experience as I active runner.

Around mid September, I thought I'd take to running to lose a bit of weight, as I was starting to get overweight a bit and all. My first run was just over a healthy mile that lasted damn close to 15minutes with my heart almost falling out.

I thought I'd probably not be able to keep this up, but the next week I was running again. My running app, runkeeper, constantly motivated me with my progress updates and I was determined to progress.

From running a whole mile in September, I celebrated a 16.23 mile run on Boxing Day. I'm currently nursing a knee strain, but I'm certainly itching to get back to running as soon as possible.

One major benefit of running for me has been its therapeutic one. I had some major challenges last year, and while I've considered myself relatively strong, running did ensure I wasn't sucked into the realm of depression.

I hope to run my first major marathon this year, but we'll see how that goes. In the meantime, to all you runners on steemit I say... You've won.

Wow, a marathon! I find exercise helps me too with mood and also, after walking, I like to write :)

It really does. I like writing too but I finally admit am not very good at it

That's not true! Of course you're a good writer, you're here doing it all the time.
