This morning when I woke up, checked my emails and saw that I got an advertising email, inviting me to learn English in 20 days, without a teacher. π²

This is not new to me, these advertisements are going on and around for decades. I knew what it is about without opening it and usually these are going straight to the spam folder but this one got lucky, ended up in my inbox, therefore I thought I'll check it out.
It's about the five basic foreign languages, English, German, Spanish, French and Italian. You buy them, they give you a discount if you are ordering today, but only today!!!! π
The best thing about these courses is that you can learn the language at home, without a teacher in 20 days!!! π
I was wondering if there is one person that can believe that!? I'm not asking this because these advertising techniques are so old, but because everyone in the right minds knows learning a language in 20 days is impossible.
These companies are selling a dream, targeting desperate people just like the ones selling wight loss pills or devices that helps you lose weight in no time without giving up eating and without making any effort.
I was wondering why can't they make valid points by listing facts in their advertising packages? Can anyone answer me this question? Are there people who can still be fooled?

Existing of this kind of advertising its the answer itself. This is exist, because this is works. If noone want to buy a package, the marketing-analysts can see the numbers (zero order), and make the decision, to skip this advertising.
But we see it all the times. So the number its not zero. So there are enough people, enough customer, so the good decision its the continuing the ad.
So yes. Are there people who can still be fooled :) Many people actually.
Btw. i learn english since years, and as you can see, still pretty bad :D

Oh yes, my friend. There are people out there that can be fooled. Some think that we evolved so much that anything can be accomplished in a matter of days, just like that, no kidding. A former work colleague of mine said that she is going to learn Japanese in 2 months just by listening some track while sleeping, she tried it unsuccessfully of course.

Indeed! In 20 days, one can learn enough of a language to be cocky and dangerous! π

I don't get where do those people get our e-mails. I've had my share of such e-mails as well. Now I'm being spammed everyday with travel, sunglasses and some others.

I'll tell you. When you sign up to a webpage, there's the small print saying you agree your data to be processed for advertising purposes. Sometimes the box is already checked. It's an ugly trick but they can sell your data to third parties. That is how you end up getting ads you don't want, then you can click unsubscribe englessly.
