Don't Let the Holidays Kill

in life •  7 years ago

Each year during US winter months and I am sure in other places around the world we have two major problems we face but together can change little by little together as a community. As the holidays and the winter come around I can't help but to think of those who do not have someone around for the holidays or do not have proper winter items and could face death if not properly prepared.

That's not okay with me, at all. Every one more than likely knows someone in need, we just have to put a little thought away from crypto's, computers and blogging to realize who in our lives chance not making it this winter. Our family as large as we are have what we need so we donate coats and hoodies each year to local shelters, fireplaces and schools. This helps solve the problem of a few freezing to death. The ones we know of who ask for a hand and are in the right mind to do so. Not everyone is of the right mind to do so. There are many who are either too proud to ask for help or too hardened to society. Be kind to a stranger and you'll be amazed at what comes back your way. Life is a pretty amazing thing when you put others ahead of yourself.

Help someone in need if you are aware of them being in need. If you're in need, reach out.

Doing nothing and having an avoidable death forever on your conscience will never make for an enjoyable holiday moving forward.

My personal door is always open as well to anyone who needs an ear or advice of a father. I've had a lot of hard life lessons I have lived through to the other side and many that I never thought I'd make it till tomorrow as well. Being human can suck but I promise you if you make it just a little longer, it does all get better

I am wrapping up my time in intensive Outpatient therapy. And most folks are struggling with depression or some form of suicidal thoughts.

My heart breaks to hear their thoughts on the invasive thoughts they have to deal with. These folks are blessed to have wound up in a situation that can help them cope.

Thanks for reminding folks to reach out and think of others during this season. Not everyone can cope. However, if we share the right tools, you might just save a life or turn someone down a better path.

Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas to you too, so many get wrapped up in who is buying who the better toy at Christmas they forget those around them. They have completely lost the concept of the Holiday spirit. Thank you for sharing and being one who daily does some caring.

Great offering man! It's unbelievable many people are out there in the cold winter without a shelter.

It's even crazier to me how many people know and do nothing.

Bless your kind heart. You may have saved many lives with this one post. I adore you for this message. Eye opener for sure.

Well shared @erodedthoughts,

This well thought through outpouring of the heart must comes from a person of principles with a soul that cares. Thank you for reminding all of us to keep believing we can make a difference, and to serve others beyond just to alleviate the guild of inaction, but to become greater than just focusing on ones own comfort and self preservation.

I'm following you and I'll also be making some plans to see if I can help out some people in this holiday season (it's summer here) but the loneliness during the holidays festivities is real and each of us can truly make a difference even if it's to reach out to a handful of stranger to put a smile in their spirit.

Highest Regards,
DrSMWong

This is a short and outstanding post. Helping people in need means we are also helping our self. There is a king of joy from this since i do experience it. My hubby and I do give out whatever we have to give even when there is not much at hand.
We are still better than some.
Thanks for sharing.
