It seems this time of year is the time for
getting in all those last minute indulgences --
partaking abundantly in the feasts,
sitting around with family and friends,
imbibing in some spirits,
getting and giving gifts and
setting intentions for a healthy and prosperous new year.
Then when the New Year comes,
it is time to be disciplined to make the changes
only dreamed about the past year,
and to begin anew with a grander perspective and
a more deliberate and richer experience.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Did you ever notice that the mainstream media promotes the sequence of such a reality?
Just look at what's on the magazine rack before and after the holidays:
Before and during the festive season, the news stands are exploding with temptations to celebrate the months ending the year, including recipes for rich foods and decadent desserts, expensive fashion and consumer wares, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals to make one look and feel better.
Then after the first of the year, the remedies come to attempt treatment for the overindulgence in food, finance, and the further disempowered state of being. It is well-known and somewhat dictated and expected, that the New Year is the time for change, and that discipline is the path to "succeed" in your goals and resolutions. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Some points to ponder: Instead of giving our power away to some time in the future-- Instead of giving ourselves permission to postpone our happiness-- Instead of waiting to give ourselves the very best life has to offer-- Instead of setting ourselves up for a New Year of discipline-- We could get a jump start on the New Year. We could begin getting happy right NOW. Healthy right NOW. More financially and emotionally stable right NOW. More empowered right NOW. More badass right NOW. and feelings as they come up.
I feel there is no need for New Year's resolutions if one is living to one's own highest standards right NOW. And there is no need for discipline, when something is so clearly important that it naturally incites passionate dedicated focus. I am... being more silent within (and without) and increasingly mindful of this moment, my thoughts, feelings and emotions. Slowing down and being deliberate with clarity. I am... holding myself to higher standards because I deserve it. I am... making important my health, my happiness, my expansion and my evolution. What is it that we find so magical about the New Year that it is determined that THAT is the time for change?
What would happen if we didn't need a last hurrah, with one last dessert, one more purchase, one last day to relax on the couch, and the need to artificially alter ourselves to be happy?
What would happen if we didn't wait until the New Year to integrate upgrades into our lives?
What would happen if we chose to implement the things that are important right NOW?
We could become very clear on what our values are and
What is important to us--
and remember that anything of great importance
is worth having NOW!!
If not NOW, then when?
Next year?
The year after?
When we get that degree?
When we get that new job?
When we retire?
I am questioning myself right now.
Sitting in meditation.
Paying more attention to my present moment
and being more aware and responsible for my thoughts
I'm clarifying that which is of value to me
and releasing attachment and expectation of my perceived ideal outcome.
I'm embracing where I am right NOW.
I am living for a purpose, so I have a focus,
and I engage in it every waking moment of my day.
I get to choose right now and
right now and
right now...
every moment...
that which serves me.
I won't be waiting until the new year to upgrade my life.
I am embracing change right NOW!
I am in master training right now
in many areas of my life.
Entrusted with great responsibility,
I am getting to expand my abilities and my awareness,
as well as honing my focus and my purpose to a higher degree.
NOW is the perfect moment for fine-tuned upgrades.
NOW is prime time to level up.
NOW is the opportunity to embrace everything.
Oh how grateful
I am
for
NOW!
Beautiful words & images. Thank you so much for reminding us of this most important message :)
