I was asked to promote a website with a banner by a famous Steemian. He wants to support the poker community and make it big when communities are released on Steemit in the future.
This Steemian has done a lot of good for the community already.
I checked out the website myself and it's BTC only (no fiat), so it's crypto related (wich I like) and it gets good reviews.
Advertisement on the Steem blockchain will be a thing in the future. Especially when this platform grows and grows. But unlike normal websites, it's not as simple to advertise on a blockchain. It's not like you can call a company and 'buy' advertisement space.
It's cool to think about really because this is new territory for everyone.

It almost seems a no-brainer that some kind of marketing machine will eventually form on Steemit, but the difference being the advertisers AND the viewers of those ads both benefit. Again, a win-win situation (like post votes and curation rewards on Steemit). It's a fascinating concept and one I myself have thought about many times but never actually saw implemented... Until now.
Seems you and your fellow innovative steemian ally are providing a unique test-bed experiment to see how this will all play out, but honestly, I can only see it being a resounding success.

Interesting thought I have not had until now. Steemit is just blowing my mind! Well, in a way it might be against the nature of steemit and the crypto spirit, free from big business or at least not guided by big business. Anyways, I believe the great opportunity we have with blockchain and also Steemit is that you can have your own strategy and goals for using Steemit. It may be of interest in information, it may be financial incentives or maybe both. So then, I guess the real spirit should be that it is up to every single user and if a company sees value in placing adds and sponsoring users, fine with me. Congratulations on your good work and see how it works for you - just make sure you don't get into dodgy contracts - but who am I telling this, you are running your own business for 9 years! I have wondered in the future if you worked hard to build a big following, if that could effectively be monetized by promoting companies on your blog. Well, it looks like the future is now and just gives us a glimpse of what Steemit is to become. It's simply a win/win. To answer your question about cold storage. for BTC you can generate a random address (https://www.bitaddress.org) and send your BTC there. just make sure you backup the private and public key and never share these. (if you want to be super secure, you generate the address on an offline computer).
my EOS is still on the exchange. Had no time yet to get it off.

What if someone starts a company, that company invests a lot in Steempower, sells advertisement space on its account...that would probably make it possible for other companies to buy advertisement space here. A lot of these sites are used for (money) laundering bitcoins for fiats. So you make two accounts on the poker site, one over VPN I assume and you play against yourself. This way you can transfer your dirty bitcoin to fiat currency.

This topic had been a huge conversation in the community in the past. There are those who are favor and at the same time, there those who really don't like it.
Among the reason why lots of people don't like to have ads in steemit is that they wanted to keep the platfrom free from those. They had already enough banner ads on every site they get in to but not steemit and they wanted to keep it that way.
If ads can help steemit reach its goal, then the platform might consider putting this topic on discussion again.
