Simple Homemade toothpaste recipe

in life •  7 years ago

Hello everyone, @eyeofthemind here with a quick and simple recipe for some DIY toothpaste. Takes just a minute to make and leaves you feeling refreshed. I've been using this blend for a couple of years now on and off. It's so simple and I absolutely love how my teeth feel after brushing with this. So how easy is this to make? I must tell you, they don't get simpler than this.

What you'll need:

  • tablespoon
  • a cup or small dish for storage
  • a mixing spoon

Ingredients:

  • coconut oil
  • baking soda

*Now, some people add spearmint to this for some freshness but I always rinse with mouthwash after brushing so I haven't had a need for it.

Step 1
-add equal parts baking soda and coconut oil to your dish (today I used 3Tbsp baking soda and 3Tbsp coconut oil)

Step 2

  • mix until you have a pasty blend
*if you have sensitive teeth, I recommend adding a little more coconut oil to help smooth things out

    Step 3
  • brush your teeth!

I told you that was easy wasn't it?

You can leave this right on the shelf where you would normally put your toothpaste.

Benefits of baking soda and coconut toothpaste

  1. It's cheap
  2. Simple to make...isn't it? :)
  3. Coconut oil is antibacterial as well as antifungal, it helps destroy bacteria that decays your teeth..stay healthy!
  4. Baking soda is a bit abrasive so it does a good job of cleaning your teeth and helps to whiten them
  5. Baking soda can also help you balance your pH levels(more to come on this :) )

Interesting... I didn't think coconut oil for toothpaste.... I'm using a coconut oil mix with herbs for my hair.... seems good - only 3rd time usage....

I use it for oil pulling from time to time (just the coconut oil that is). Coconut oil is so useful!
