As you guys are probably aware of, I've been pretty occupied with chilling out in the awesome company of @exyle and @bkdbkd. Having so much fun and almost forgetting about the outside world. This morning I was doing a little catching up on YouTube when I stumbling across one of my most highly anticipated movies, period. The awesome Godzilla: King of the Monsters, scheduled for 31st May 2019. Don't know how this one managed to slip under the radar, lol.
(Very minor spoiler ahead)
At the end of Kong: Skull Island, there was a brief pre-credits scene where it was revealed that a few other creatures from the newfangled Legendary Pictures MonsterVerse, will be joined our gargantuan lizard friend. Not only that, but after this Godzilla: King of the Monsters hits the theatres, Kong himself will face off against him, in a battle that fans have been clamouring about for. The last on-screen outing they had together was in the 1962 Toho production, King Kong vs. Godzilla. Except technological and budgetary constraints meant that the showdown was, in reality, two men dressed up in rubber suits and dancing about in the front of you (quite literally, in certain scenes). No, that was not good enough. Maybe for the time, but not now. This match-up has "epicness" written all over it.
But first, to the matter at hand. The new upcoming movie. I personally loved the trailer. The sheer scale of earthly destruction, looks unprecedented. As far as I can tell, there are 3 new monsters waiting in the wings, to be introduced to us all. First up, Mothra who has been featured in several movies in the past. Again, the scale we are talking when he fully extends his wingspan, is absolutely jaw-dropping. Next up, Rodan who we get a few fleeting glances of but still, a flying behemoth in every sense of the word. And finally, the insanely cool King Ghodirah, the three-headed dragon who spits out electrical charges of devastating effect. This abomination is the the one I'm personally looking forward most to seeing, as we only get to see a foreboding shadowy presence in the trailer. And to think, all these guys are going up against one another. My god, I simply cannot wait for this movie to come out.
One major complaint about the 2014 release, was not enough shots of Godzilla himself and much of the action taking place "off-screen". Yes, I second all those voice a as all that was is an extended teaser for what is to come. Leave the fans begging for more, right? Well, their marketing campaign just about gave us the bare minimum to warrant that movie being considered an overall success. People, though disappointed in some aspects of it, loved the design and look of this new Godzilla, which proved a winning formula in the end.
So, there you have it. Godzilla: King of the Monsters is upon us. I love the trailer and general vibe I got from it. If they can pull this one off, I see this universe as only just getting started. Very happy days ahead! :)
@ezzy seems to be very interesting movie.
