We're nearing the end of our luxurious trip and in a few days, these beautiful places will only be but a sweet memory. But certain details stick in your mental recollection files more than others and one would most definitely be the sheer number of cats on this island.

One interests fact that's always stuck with me is that cats are supposed to be scavengers. Independent by nature, they will do what it takes to survive on their own whereas dogs are instinctually hunters in packs. Well, not here I can tell you. From what I've noticed, they each have their own group and tend not to stray to far from each other, with a seemingly ordered hierarchy. The leaders go about looking for food whilst the weaker remain protected in the background. Several times (once today actually), I observed a wild cat take some food in it's mouth, offered from a kindly local and feed it's clan near a fence on the other side of the road. And I'm quite sure they don't have owners as such. They live without the direct need for human intervention, which I find fascinating.

This little furry friend in the first picture was the one being fed across the road. Gotta give it to these guys for making it as a team. London cats, take note! Your brethren over on the other side of the big pond, know how to feed themselves without having food served to them every few hours by us!

Nice cats!

Hehehehe in Nigeria we call those mummys babies, Ajebutters and the street kids we call Ajekpakos. Hehehe

These cats in Mljet are just Ajekpakos, they fend for themselves and live like the street kids. While those in London have been spoilt like the Ajebutters and want ro be spoonfed every now and then.

Nice! So our "street friends" out in Nigeria know the deal too! :)
