We are the Duarte Proko Family. We love travelling together around the world and getting to know different cultures.

Nowadays, we live in the capital city of Misiones, in Northeast Argentina. Our city, Posadas, arises by the Paraná River, and it is in front of Encarnacion, an important Paraguayan city.
Misiones is one of the most beautiful reservoirs of the Paranaense Forest, with subtropical weather conditions, which offer no room for boredom, due to its unpredictable and constant variations. In addition, there is a great influence of European immigrants in Misiones, who had escaped from World War II to establish in this region, such as my grandparents. They came from Moscow and the previously called Czechoslovakia. Those are great stories to get to know!

However, apart from this cultural legacy that stamps the relational and economical core of the region, the “Misionense” population is constantly in contact with the Paraguayan and Brazilian cultures, resulting in a true feast of traditions. We will share with you our favorite traditional recipes soon.

Moreover, Misiones has become a worldwide known tourist destination, due to the Iguazu Waterfalls, one of the recently chosen Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

We live at a four hours trip distance from Puerto Iguazu city in Argentina and Foz do Iguaçu city in Brazil. So, as you can imagine, we usually travel to this amazing area full of natural attractions, and we always come back wishing to return.

Our family started when our paths came across almost twenty years ago. Marcos and I (Nati) had already travelled to several destinations, and, since we got married, we continued to do so together. We love getting to know the world together. After a while, God has given us the blessing to be able to continue with this adventure with our two treasures: Daniela, who was born while we were living in Buenos Aires, and Simon, born already in terracotta soil.

At the present time, I work as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language, and I am also getting ready to teach Spanish for Foreigners as well. However, I would rather describe myself as an authentic “Mamiger”. I made up this word to refer to the intermingled lifestyle a mother, wife, woman, professional and home manager carries. It is great fun, I won’t deny that. Is it complex? Sure it is, but that doesn`t mean that it has to be complicated in a bad way. The ability to constantly interweaving all these functions and responsibilities may become a veracious adrenaline rush. Who does need bungee jumping? To become a “Mamiger” is an extreme sport in itself.

Sometimes, choosing to slow down in order to go with your beloved ones, is not an easy task. Furthermore, velocity seems the almost hegemonic imperative in today’s world. Nevertheless, I still believe this resolution is worth the effort.
Together, every moment matters. It's worth the joy! It's worth the life.
