Not everything has been smartphones of increasingly large screens at the Mobile World Congress in 2018, and the appointment of Barcelona has left us with proposals as curious as those of L8star. It is a Chinese manufacturer specialized in manufacturing miniature mobiles with the designs of great classics of the sector.
These small, tiny phones are fully functional. This means that, although they may look like ornaments, you can use them to make calls and send or receive text messages. The manufacturer has shown us two of their phones, one with a double SIM that mimics the appearance of the mythical Nokia 3310, and another with Bluetooth technology.
They are not ornaments, but functional motives
The most striking of the two phones is precisely the one that imitates the design of the Nokia 3310, since it unites the curiosity for a minuscule mobile with the nostalgic effect of its appearance. The model is called L8star BM10, has dimensions of 67.8x27.8x12.4 millimeters, smaller than a lighter, and includes a screen of only 0.66 inches.
It has a 350 mAh battery with which the manufacturer assures us that it can remain in standby status for up to ten days. But its most striking feature is that it is a dual SIM mobile, which also has a music playback application, and the ability to save up to 500 contacts and 100 messages
Next to it we have the L8star BM50, with measures of 74.4x23.3x11.2 millimeters and a battery of 300 mAh that give us up to 120 hours in standby. It has a 0.66-inch OLED screen, a SIM slot, and stands out because you can attach a headset in the back to put the phone in your ear and talk as if it were a hands-free.
Both phones can be connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth, and doing so will allow you to make calls and even listen to the music of your main device. All for a price of 30 dollars in the case of BM50, with a BM 10 that is not even on the website of the manufacturer for sale.
Forget if you have big fingers ... or not so big
In any case, and no matter how much they can be used to make calls or send messages, it is undeniable that the use of these devices is quite limited due to their small size. Yes, you can take them practically anywhere, but writing anything in them or working with menus is a mission that is practically impossible. Especially if you have somewhat large fingers.
And beyond having to see them to send a message then you have the part to read the ones that return you, because a 0.66-inch screen does not seem like the most comfortable experience in the world. In any case, they have a price small enough to be worth of curious detail to give away or even mini-emergency phone for your trips.
