Legendarium Podcast: Update

What is the Legendarium Podcast?

I previously posted about this podcast and wanted to give an update on the latest series they are working on. To copy from that post-

The podcast is a group of guys who get together once a week to talk about a wide variety of topics, ranging from fantasy books, comics, sci-fi movies, and general pop culture. It seems to be a core group of 4  guys, though they do have special guests/listeners on occasionally. The podcast started almost three years ago now in February of 2014 and they have put out about 120 episodes to date. The quality definitely improves as the episodes go on but even the early podcasts are still worth a listen.

With that in mind I wanted to talk a little bit more about what they are currently doing and possibly expose a few more people to something that I really enjoy. They don't get paid to do this and and the more exposure I can throw their way the more likely they are to keep me entertained with podcasts.

What are they up to now?

Currently they are tackling the epic fantasy series The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. For those unfamiliar with the Wheel of Time it is considered one of the great fantasy epics of all time. The series spans 14 books, the first book being published in 1990 and the final installment coming out in 2013. The series is well known for its detailed world building and unique magic system.  According to Jordan's French publisher, as of 2017, the series has sold over 80 million copies worldwide, and is the best selling epic fantasy series since The Lord of the Rings. Unfortunately Robert Jordan passed away before he was able to finish the series and his estate reached out to prolific fantasy author Brandon Sanderson to finish the last 3 books.

So what are these guys doing that adds anything to this literary classic? Well, they are reading along and posting an episode after each book they complete. The podcast has 1 person who has read the entire series before, 2 people that have partially read it, and 1 person coming in completely fresh. It is very interesting to see the different reactions that they have as they experience the series book by book. Generally they split the books into 2 podcasts where they go over the basic info from that book (plot, character updates, what actually happened) then spend a fair amount of time giving opinions, what they liked, what they didn't like, and where they think the story is headed.

They are currently on book 7 of the series, A crown of swords. You can generally expect a new podcast once a week, usually on a Monday. While they are currently focused on this one large series, they do occasionally take a week off here or there to discuss other books as well. For example, this week they took some time out of read and talk about the sci-fi novel Redshirts by John Scalzi, so even if you aren't into Robert Jordan you can check back every couple weeks to find something a little different.

So where can I find these guys?

So you read my post and figured it is worth giving these folks a chance to entertain you but don't know where to find them. Here are a few helpful links to begin your listening experience-

If you want to get in touch with them, recommend new books for them to read and review, or just start a discussion about what they are currently working on, you can find them at

So thats the update on what they are currently working on. As they tackle new series I will occasionally throw a new post out there to let everyone know. I hope you enjoyed reading this and give these guys a shot.

Edit* I did forget to mention that I will donate a portion of the SBD dollars earned from this post to the podcast
