Hey Fi, am I allowed to...
Stop right there, I have something for you.
See, I wake up every day with a renewed desire to write because it means everything to me. It could be said to be my talent, oh you're such a good writer, yet I understand that talent alone isn't enough to make me great. Instead, my actions, efforts and attitude towards writing are what will make me great. What will make me great will also be determined by how much I put in; how much I write and that's why I try to write every day without apology.
Some days I write so well, other days oh well..., but every day I get better.
I believe knowing how to do something isn't sufficient to give you desired results, you have to do the thing. How else will the world know you can if you don't? The conditions for doing it doesn't always have to be favorable, but you just have to start. Things might just get better but that's dependent on the growth and development of an individual or environment; it's a continuous process. Have you ever heard of any man who got results from doing nothing? Me neither! For every effect there is a cause.
How can you move your world if you aren't moving?
However, the problem isn't that we don't try at all. It is that we sometimes expect too much from ourselves. One very common and easy trap we fall into is that we judge our progress by the lives of others. You look at the guy over there and then you feel you should at least be on his level or higher. You immediately feel that because you aren't, your life is probably messed up.
Don't be deceived by the results of others. Vegetables are green but they don't have strong roots, they can be easily uprooted but that's not the same for a palm tree that takes years to grow its root. Everything takes different time for everyone. What you need to find out is how much time you require then persevere. Be sure that time is sufficient to get you the desired result.
There will always be a conflict of opinion about you, don't be distracted. Always remember you really don't need anyone's approval. Yes, consider for instance those who will approve you for the wrong reasons and the ones that will criticize you for no reason. What you need is to have a clear picture of where you're headed, lock it in your heart and let it serve as your drive. Above all, be sure that you really want to do or be that which you have proposed in your heart.
Courage isn't fighting when everyone is by your side; it is staying strong even when the world is against you. Stick with your gut! Do what you need to do and don't apologize for it; people will judge you anyway.
What's unacceptable is doing nothing. The gift of a man will make way for him only if he starts journeying. The start is always rough; let no one tell you otherwise. You should have started a long time ago, you have procrastinated for way too long! However, It is better late than never, so go start now. 😉
Stop locking up that bigger you out of fear of the unknown!
To be successful or to make progress you don't really need anyone's approval. Your success is not an employment whereby ou need an approval from a boss or so, your success is for you and you only.
One thing people tend to do that lead to failure is comparing their life with the life of somewhere else, always thinking about what people will say. For crying out loud, these things are not suppose to be. You have your life to live, I have my life to live. I will be responsible for my decisions and you will be responsible for yours.
You need courage not approval, you don't really need the world to be by your side you can achieve things all by yourself with dedication and determination. Free your soul from procrastination and you surely gonna go places. The gift of man is indeed enough to pave way for him only if he utilizes his time well.

Wow! Fi...i loved this and it resonated with me on a rather deep level.
My Mum always used that phrase..."better late than never" and it has shaped a lot of my decisions in life as well as the decisions of my family. Case in point; My dad retired a year ago but had decided he was gonna be too active to go sit down somewhere and vegetate after retirement. To circumvent that, he put in for a Master's programme about 2 year before retirement. Starting a Master's programme at age 56/57 seemed ridiculous but he did and completed his PHD late last year. He is now addressed as Dr. Olumide Fawehinmi at 60! In fact, he just got offered a lecturing job at one of the new universities and that brought so much jubilation for us all and elation for him. It was an answer to a prayer for a man too restless to stay at home doing nothing much. Imagine if he hadn't taken the bull by the horns and gone back to do his Master's thinking it was too late to start all over!
I wrote a poem about the fear of the unknown and i agree totally, it locks one up and limits all of one's potentials. You can never know until you try.
Thanks for this beautiful article @fisteganos.

This brought a smile to my face! We'd never know what we're capable of if we don't at least try! Thanks a lot for sharing.

The moral of the story is, do you. There is something we refer to as interference or ripples or electrical noise. They tend to disturb an electronic circuit; sometimes in an electronic, we have things like capacitors that smooths it out. In life we have interferences, but there's usually no such smoother built into our system. You can only learn to ignore the interruptions (interferences) we encounter daily and decide to push forward ahead. That is some words to live by; always a pleasure to read an article like this 👍✌️

Most success stories have the ingredients you just shared here
Ronaldo at his days at old trafford was deemed the most talented in the squad, even at that, reports said he would leave the stadium the same time with the security guards cause even after his team mates had left, he would stay back. Practising free kicks and dipping shots. Little wonder he's what he is today.
Talent don't just cut it, i bet Wole Soyinka had people praising his works even when he was relatively unknown. His consistency at practising to be the best in what he does pushed him to the heights.
This is greatly inspirational. One just has to keep at it, be it writing, be it some other goal. And success awaits us.

This is spot-on. Speaking about procrastination, which isn't just a robber of time but of destiny, is something that tends to toss lots of people into a dungeon they ought not find themselves. They say "getting ahead is getting started" and one just have to realize the fact that looking at the clock as it makes it "tic toc" sound, it waits for no man. Great post!

Courage is not the absence of fear, it is the presence of fear, yet the will goes on. Often times we live our lives at the mercy of others. We allow their opinion change the way we think and that is totally unacceptable.
Just do it like "nike" would always say. Taking the giant leap and risk would be better than doing nothing. Another amazing post brother. This is really amazing. Well done bro. Bravo!

I like writing to express and ventilate, but true...some days the words come racing in to a perfect clear story, and some days its a blur that cant seem to align.

A lot of us have made others our mark forgetting to that we are unique. Even if we are called to the second thing, for example writing. Uniqueness will enable you write on the same subject with a different perspective and style.

This is true. even John Maxwi wrote a book tittled talent is not enough. there are so many talented individuals roaming the streets, we need to build up our talent to a skill and we need a lot of patience, tenacity, hardwork, etc.
