IF EVERYONE CAN LEARN TO SAY I AM SORRY, THE WORLD WILL BE A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE IN
It’s a sense of maturity if anyone can say I AM SORRY from a sincere heart. Most times people just say it for just formality sake so that life can move on but within them they are not sorry for what they are apologizing for.
Now let’s critically look at the word SORRY. It is a simple word that is used to acknowledge one's faults, apologizing and taking responsibility for the wrong done. Sorry sound so simple, but it can heal deep emotional pains, pull down mountains of strife and war. Just as simple this word is, it is still a difficult word for some persons to say when they are wrong. For such persons they feel too big to apologize, they are never at fault and too perfect to be wrong. The question here is “is there any perfect man on the surface of the earth ?” Without any argument, I am bold to say there is no perfect person anywhere.
To err is human, to forgive divine. All people commit sins and make mistakes...”
- Alexander PopeSource
Somehow, it can be seen that most persons that can’t apologies for their wrong have the tendency to have pride in them, have robust ego that cannot be controllled, but simply living in denial, not acknowledging the fact that they are not super humans. If they do, then planet KRYPTON should be their abode.
Who Should Say “ I Am Sorry”?
Is there any class of persons who are mandated to say I AM SORRY and some others not to say so? I am very sure there isn’t any such class for who and not to use the sentence I am sorry. There is also some cultural misconceptions that...
• Elders can’t say I am sorry to their younger ones when the elders are wrong
• Employers can’t say ** I am sorry* to their employees when the employer is wrong
• Father and mother can’t say I am sorry to their children when both parents don’t keep to their promises.
However, it is a norm for a younger person to apologize to a older person when he/she has done wrong on the ground of acknowledging his or her fault. Then it shouldn’t be a challenge or should be a norm for an elderly person to also apologize when he is at fault to a concerned younger individual. Irrespective of your status, no one should be too big to say “I am sorry” when at fault and it does not matter who the person is.
It is also wise for husbands to learn to say I am sorry to their wives and the wife does the same, as this builds stronger marital bliss and respect for each other.
It is proper for employers to say I am sorry to their employees when the employer knows he or she is wrong because it brings trust and dedication to the workforce.
Elders can say “I am sorry” to a younger person when the elderly person is at fault. This teaches the younger person how to apologize, accept his or her faults as the case may be, emulate the good example the elderly person has shown and also give the older person the deserved respect.
Fathers and mothers can equally say I am sorry to their children when they don’t keep to their promises made to their children. This will teach the kids to have self confidence, accept their mistakes and apologize when they are at fault.
It does not take any thing from you if you learn how to say “I am sorry”. It only makes you responsible and mature, irrespective of your status. Every good behavior is worth emulating so make your self an epitome of good moral. It makes you a better person and recommendable and be trusted.
Stay blessed...
