Very well-thought-out and written gem of a post. Traveling has a wonderful impact on people. In my university, no one spoke more passionately of anything other than their overseas exchange experiences. I found out why after living for 6 months in Shanghai for an internship and then 6 months in the US for my study exchange.
The level of exposure and ability to observe new things like food, customs, history, cultural ways of receiving and reaction to new information. Staying at a place for a longer gave me a lot of time to introspect, examine myself against new benchmarks on life, and try to be a better version of myself.
It helped to be away from family and normal circle of friends as well. Opens up new dimensions into the experience and helps you to know yourself better. I think I grew up the most (mentally) during that 1 year of living abroad than all my time spent in my home country.
Thanks for sharing @soldier, you've got a new follower! :)
Totally agree about living abroad. You realize how much of your previous problems back home were really nothing at all. I guess when you're in a place too long, you get complacent and you even start to fear changes! Being away from home really opens your eyes and mind.

Yes that's true. It's a danger of staying too deep in our comfort zones. We limit our own growth potential :(
