At the then University of ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, Nigeria, a renowned Professor un the Faculty of Science always included a strange question referred to as "confusion coefficient" in his examination questions.image source
- Student who had been tutored by a meticulous Faculty of Technology Professor of the same University, accustomed to the Ghanaian proverbs: "The wife of a careless man is almost a widow", would easily recognise this question and avoid it.
Questioning is am integral part of learning process. On the sign board of Chemistry department, University of Ibadan, Ibadanis this inscription: " Question, not answer generates new knowledge".
However, there are three great inseparable questions that are avoidable in the school of life, namely:
whom am i and where did i come from?
Why am i here?
Where am i going?
The first twin question pertains to self -identity and origin.
#The second questions centres on purpose for living and the third question focuses on eternal destiny. These questions are directed at young people particularly students on our university campuses who are in their formative years, seeking meaning to life.*
The questions are also pertinent to matured and elderly ones so as to motivate them to live fulfilled life in Christ Jesus and to be prepared for eternity. It should be realized that one cannot eat one's cake and have it: it is either Christ -centred life or crises -ridden life.
Dear audience, you will agree with me that you are not the one that created yourself. As a creation, you have a creator. The Bible gives the admonition:
"Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy Youth"
This point is aptly depicted by the Christian Philosopher, St. Augustine of Hippo in his book titled Confession: "thou hath formed us for Thyself and our hearts are restless till they fund rest in Thee".
Do you occasionally feel like throwing in the towel?
Have you experienced peace with God?
Why not repent of your sin and accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour now before it is forever too late?
" Seek the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and He will abundantly pardon."
This is the way to eternal life which comes through Christ Jesus.
"Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ".
Life without a purpose is worthless. Purpose without the people is vain. People without the true God are doomed.
A life which connects people with the true God is of utmost purpose --well spent life. In order to spent a purposeful life, you should know the true God and you should make him known to the world.
"This is life eternal, that they might know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ Whom Thou hast sent... The people that know their God shall be strong, and do exploits"
Remember, one day you are going to give account of your life. "God has given man a short time upon the face of earth, and upon this time eternity depends."
