The Word has the capacity to change.
"Now I'm turning you over to God, our marvelous God whose gracious Word can make you into what he wants you to be and give you everything you could possibly need in this community of holy friends" Acts 20:32(MSG).
No man can develop godly and better character without the word of God. The word of God has the capacity to change and transform and man. The word of God is well able to build you up, equip you and help you break off any unwanted habits or character. The word of God is what can polish you and present you to men as the express image and representative of Jesus.
What is really The Word?
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was at the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him, nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it…And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”John1:15;14.
“I saw heaven standing open. There was a white horse, and its rider is named Faithful and True. With integrity, he judges and wages war. His eyes are flames of fire. On his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him, but only he knows what it is. He wears clothes dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God” Revelation 19:11-13.
From the above scripture passages, we know that Jesus is the word. In Revelation chapter three and verse twenty. Jesus said that He is standing in your heart knocking and seeking permission to enter. Jesus is the word made flesh that is dwelling among men now! In other words, the call in Revelation 3:20 is a call for you to allow the word of God develops on your inside. It is the word of God that is capable to build you up. It is the word of God that you need for your spiritual growth and development. Andrew Wommack said that the word of God is what brings about changes that are effortless.
Three reasons why need the word of God for your needed change.
The word of God has the power to alert you to satanic attacks and equip you to be able to resist temptation. “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour”1 Peter 5:8. Satan’s desire is to attack you and lead you into committing sin and living a destructive lifestyle. His target is to cut your relationship with God. And without fellowship with God, it will be impossible for any person to be transformed and have a godly and needed character. David gave us a way out to sin and temptation in Psalm 119:11; “I treasure your word above all else; it keeps me from sinning against you”. Fill your heart with the word and continue filling it with the word of God; this is the only way to stay alert and avoid being a victim to the wiles and deceptions of the devil.
The word of God has the power, capacity, and ability to guide you in all things. God is a God of order and purpose. He is a God of vision and mission. For the reason that you are created in His image and after His own likeness, God does not want you to live a life of trial and error. Jesus said that His meat is to do the will of His Father. The will of God is in His word. Therefore, if you want to develop or improve your character, you must allow the word of God to guide and direct your daily activities. How will that be possible? Psalm 119:105 has the answer: “By your words, I can see where I'm going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path”.
Some undeveloped or unwanted characters are a direct result of immaturity. The word of God is for growth, maturity and character development. As no man will survive without food, so also no believer will develop a Christ-like character without feeding on the word of God."Like newborn babies, you should crave (thirst for, earnestly desire) the pure (unadulterated) spiritual milk, that by it you may be nurtured and grow unto [completed] salvation,”.1Peter2:2.
