Do we all live in a bubble?

in life •  7 years ago

Most of us spend our days preoccupied with our own problems and challenges. With this being said, most of us can't get past our own daily heartaches. Though we would all like to believe that we are all selfless and benevolent creatures, in reality for the most part we are all selfish and self-centered. Most people believe that their challenges are Paramount anyone else's. Sadly for the most part, most of these issues are just first world problems.

With this being said, why are we as humans so susceptible to these patterns of selfishness and self-righteousness? Did we lose our way somewhere along the last two thousand years? Or has this methodology just reared its head out in the last 20 years with the rise of social media?! It seems that the level of disparity between the rich and poor has grown to a level that has never been seen in history. And evidently, even I am confused with why a lot of these people are rich in the first place.

On a daily basis you see people that provide little to no value to society, driving in Ferraris and Lamborghinis. How did we fall so deeply down the rabbit hole? When did we start to adore stupidity over above quality information? When did Blac China become more valuable to us than a heart surgeon or a scientist? Sadly enough, a lot of this has to do with these proverbial bubbles that we live in. Most of us don't even realize the damage were causing to the fabric society by living in them. Although a lot of these individuals do provide a sense of escapism, do we really need to escape to a life that is more ridiculous than our own? At one point all we had as humans for entertainment was our imagination, I just hope one day that all these lost souls can find their imagination and escape the bubble that they're living in.

absolutely true, my sentiments exactly

Thank you

We're still better off than say, the French Revolution, but we seem hellbent on getting there.

At least then the wealth was controlled by the monarchy, now it's just controlled by the stupid. Sadly we are on a slippery slope, I just hope that we find ground before we all fall off the proverbial cliff. Thank you for your comment.
