It is made from a re-purposed concrete pipe that measure a little over 8 feet in diameter and designed as an affordable home for young people who struggle with housing costs in the world’s major cities.
An architect in Hong Kong is turning concrete water pipes into temporary apartments. He calls his design this OPod, and it's intended to help ease the housing shortage in one of the most expensive cities on Earth.
The tubes are designed to accommodate 1-2 people and come with approximately 100 square feet of living space. The interiors are equipped with the standard amenities, including a living room with a bench that converts into a bed, a mini-fridge, a bathroom, a shower and plenty of storage space for clothes and personal items.
Each tube house is equipped with smartphone locks for online access. Space-saving, micro-living furniture has been built into the side of the pipe to make the interiors feel a wee bit roomier.
The pipes can be stacked to become a low-rise building as part of a modular community. Not much is needed in the way of construction, making quick-and-easy installation possible.
Interesting solution for any Urban environment. Very innovative ideas to change life of needy people who doesn't able to afford high cost accommodation into metro city.
I applaud any efforts aimed at improving the lives of the less fortunate however in my humble opinion, as a society we should be working harder on creating equality for all.
The less we focus on that the greater the divide in the social pyramid. If we eventually achieved some sort of equilibrium in that sense no one would have to live in a pipe or 'Affordable Housing'.

Its quite a intressting idea but I have some questions.
Its cool that you can stack them but I have the feeling you loose quite alot of space. Wouldn‘t shipping container be way better in this context?
Also these pipes dont look reused. The look new.
But nevertheless it is good and importend that people come up with such ideas.
