FoldiMate, a California-based start-up company, has built a robot whose main purpose is to fold your freshly laundered items of clothing.
This is a great start! I'll wait until it can sort my laundry and feed itself though. At the moment, it appears to be more stressful and time consuming than manual folding. Great idea nonetheless! This should be designed in such a way that pressing and folding both should be done simultaneously.
The target price for the final product based on the improved concept model is $980. FoldiMate will fold any type of shirt, blouse, or pants from age 5 to adult size XXL. It will also fold standard size towels and pillowcases.
Electricity consumption is estimated to be low, as FoldiMate doesn’t involve any heating elements or high-speed motors like your washer or dryer.
It will continue folding as long as you continue clipping. When the drawer is full (about 10-15 items depending on thickness), simply remove the neat pile of folded laundry and resume clipping items until you are done.
This is a very neat idea and a great first step towards full automation of folding clothes. Ideally, I would love to see this integrated with Dryers and without any human intervention, the person gets all the laundry clothes nicely folded after the Laundry completes.
The most ideal scenario would be Washer/ Dryer and Folder all in one machine.
Hope, you might be interested to have one robotic machine like this for your home...

I probably have to wait 10 to 15 years (maybe) to get this tech affordably.
I also would like to see this attached to a dryer or one where I can just toss a basket of cloths at the top and it will give a sorted pile at the bottom.
Either way I have to wait.
