Dynamite crazy man at the fringe a couple of years back...he was pretty inspiring, I did at many points throughout his show shut my eyes as I just couldn't watch...not that what he did was bad but I was genuinely petriefied for his safety. Looking back I am sure that whilst it looked really dangerous that he wouldn't perform if he wasn't confident he could do the act without any problems and injuries... don't play with fire, machettes & chainsaws!!!
I wonder how many readers have ever been along to the Edinburgh Fringe?
There's literally hundreds of acts to see, some free; some you have to pay for...those you have to pay for it's worth seeing if you can spot local offers in papers and magazines to see if you can get buy one get one free or even buy one get one half price to save some money as they are often quite expensive when you total up the days spend.
Still if the weather is kind, there is often a plethora of activity that will captivate the mind - young or old...
I personally have been a few times and paid to see shows and stood and watched those doing for free. Clearly donations are gratefully received by these artists as they are giving up their time and showing the people and visitors their skills. Never feel obliged to give as again if you have to them all you have no money left!
So the title gave it away that this festival is now 70 years old! Amazing to think it's been going on yearly since 1947. It started when some international performers were refused entry to the Edinburgh International Festival. They decided instead to perform on the fringe of that festival and hence the Edinburgh Festival Fringe was born...now it is the largest arts festival of the world!
In 2016, there were 50,266 performances across 294 venues!
Go check out what there is to do and who knows, even if you can't make it this year; you might find yourself inspired to come along another year?
