Oh The Challenges of Living in a Small Town

I have lived in a small community in Canada my entire life outside of going away to University. What was I thinking, why did I come back. Come back to the security of comfortable surroundings. Fast forward 20 years, and I truly do regret this decision, and here is why.

OK for starters, Not too many small town's or communities (population less than 13,000) have a the Movie Cinema's that you find the free coupon inside the cereal box.

Next and the biggest challenge is, Employment. It is truly a "Not what you know, it's who you know" that lands the job.

Transportation is also a rather large obstacle for many living in a small town. Seniors and Teens alike are faced with a ride share program established usually by friends and Churches.

Another difficulty is that the banks close at 4:30 and are not open on weekends.

Now all you small town Teen girls, can attest to this. Purchasing clothing, especially a Prom dress, can be most challenging, I mean really who want's to show up to Prom with 2 other girls wearing the same dress.

Guy's, here is the kicker for you. If you've had a little too much to drink and cause a ruckus at the local establishment and you get kicked out or banned, typically the local Legion, your social life is just done. Usually there is only one bar in town.

So there you have it, just a few of the challenges living in a small town. If you are from a small hometown and can chime in on your personal challenges growing up, please do comment, and we can all only hope that you listened to your parents (as I did not) and you moved away and just called your town a nice little place to visit.
