Well we had the local carnival last night, this is the most important carnival in Honduras and attracts a lot of visitors the streets are overcrowded with people and there is of course a lot of drinking going on. Before the big Saturday event every day for two weeks a different sector of the city is host to a mini carnival, this year in one of these mini events they even brought about 7 international artists mostly regueton who are of international fame like Farruko and Tito el Bambino, and no I didn't go I don't particularly like that music, but it was a huge success.

Last night we had about 12 national musical groups and a singer from Colombia named Torizo, I had never heard of him but it appears he is quite well known. This thing starts at 9:00 pm and it is over by 2:00 am this just means the groups and singers, people start drinking from Friday and are still at it today. Again I didn't go to this carnival, big groups of people don't attract me.

But what really caught my attention this time was a black van (I put a photograph of it, which I took yesterday morning) named "Tito Aguacate". Now Tito Aguacate is the nickname of a guy who had a bar, pub or actually as we say in Honduras "Estanco" which is just a place where you can buy "Guaro" the local white rum which is very coarse and what most people of scant resources drink, this was in Tegucigalpa the capital which also has a peculiarity, the people who drink "Guaro" are not limited to those with low incomes all people there drink it as the climate is cooler.

Now "Tito Aguacate" as it is located in the city center is a very visited place (since 1945 as the Van says), at midday you can find street vendors, bankers, congressmen, shoe shiners, store owners, etc., taking a shot there. He was called Tito Aguacate because as a snack to accompany the "guaro" he would give you a slice of Aguacate (avocado) on a tortilla. But what made the place famous was his celebrated "Calambres" (cramps) which was his secret recipe for curing a hangover.

I really don't know what they put in this thing but it does cure hangovers, you just have to take two of them and you are drunk all over again. Well it seems that Tito's family got some marketing instruction because now they have taken the Calambre on national tours, I never expected to see Tito Aguacate's calambres at the La Ceiba carnival.
