I guess most of us are susceptible to fall into the gambling trap in one way or another, those who don't are the guys called millionaires or billionaires. Gambling is an addiction just like drinking, smoking, taking drugs etc. But most of these other vices take their toll particularly on your health, gambling hits heaviest in your pocket and with the after effects of losing on your brain.
I am a chronic gambler, I gamble at video poker, I have gambled at cards, even betting on one cock fight, once, I was told to bet on one rooster as the other one only had one eye, what they didn't tell me was that the one eyed crook was a nasty killer, I lost about $5.00 that one and only time, anyway I have never considered cock fighting as anything but a vicious activity, that time I was drunk.
I also play pool but I wouldn't consider that gambling as it is a game of skill and knowing who you are playing against. But gamblers will bet on anything, that is why cockroach races exist. I remember I once read about a Mississippi riverboat cardsharp who stayed overnight in a small town and lost all his money at a craps game. When a friend hounded him because after all he knew the game was fixed, the gambler answered "What did you want me to do? It was the only game in town."
I think gamblers aren't in it for the money what they or better said we want is to destroy the opponent and show we are better, good luck with a slot machine with that attitude. Now I know I can't beat a machine but I just can't keep away from them which is the reason I lost 103 Steem on SteemSlotsGame, I knew I would lose but I kept on playing, lucky the price is down, at $8.00 per Steem I would still be crying, I know, you will say the price can go back up, but what counts is the moment, better said now.
You will almost certainly lose when you gamble like one joke I heard about a guy who told another one- "Do you want to risk $100.00 on a bet that says that I can bite my right eye?" So the other guy thought it over, thought it was practically stealing and accepted. So the first guy took out his glass eye and bit it. So after a while the guy said "OK, I'll give you a chance, do you want to bet $200.00 that I can't bite my left eye?" Now this was a sure bet, so the other guy accepted. So the first guy took out his false teeth and bit his left eye.
Now the guy with the false teeth and glass eye was an entrepreneur who knew the outcome of his bet, the other guy was you or me, suckers who know something is wrong with such a stupid bet but still fall for it.
Indeed, gamblers are on it for the adrenaline kick I guess. I never gambled with cards etc, but sometimes I felt that my trading was almost the same :D

Yes I think trading is gambling but in a more sophisticated way.
