I am from an old, historical town in Eastern Iran. Due to the hot, desert climate of our homeland, cisterns were an important part of towns in this area. When I was a kid, we used to get our drinking water from these cisterns. I have collected a few pics from old and historical cisterns in Iran from the internet.
