What makes a person happy?

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

In my own quest to establish lasting happiness, I have found a few things which contribute to creating a rich happy life. Here is what has worked (except the sex thing, that never happened :p).

Having Basic Needs Met

I watched a documentary called “Happy” that investigates genuine satisfaction and science of true happiness while contemplating happiness levels in rich and poor nations. Their research found that money and happiness are only directly correlated to an extent. Money is a noteworthy contributor to your joy up until your basic needs are met – food, water, shelter, clothing and so on. After you can afford to have these necessities met, the amount of happiness money can bring you doesn’t radically increase any longer.

Sex And having Kids

Do I have to even talk about this one?

Science tells us what happiness is, it's about the chemicals. Just eject it....hmm...but not with your hands. Put it where it belongs...hmm...but not everywhere...like Harvey Weinstein.

Lol, never mind, moving on.!

Reproducing species is our main purpose which is why it feels so good to do it. In addition, everyone I know who decided it was the right time to have children describes it as the most fulfilling feeling in the entire world. Who doesn’t want those adorable little dudes?

Don’t look at me, still single :0

And no signs to mingle. :p That’s not just my league :0

Companionship/Friendship

We're social animals on a basic level, regardless of how timid or calm some of us are. We want to be adored and loved by those around us. So, in order to be happy and cheerful, it's imperative to have meaningful relationships with other people, both romantic and platonic. What's the purpose of living a life of happiness when you can't experience it with those around you?

Success/Achievement

Many of us believe in having a sense of purpose for our existence, and our measure of how aligned we are with that is our level of success. Being successful in anything, particularly something you’re very passionate about, gives our lives meaning and validates our reason for existing.

Health/Wellbeing

It’s no secret that good diet, working out, and powerful anxiety management directly influences your happiness. Doing a little bit of research will show you that these things are a surefire way to improve your physical and emotional health.

Nothing feels good (Not even Game of Thrones) when you are on loose motions or constipation. You have to sit right there nearby toilet, after all it's "loose" motions.

Sharing Your Wisdom

Being in a position to share your wisdom about life to those younger and less experienced than you is incredibly satisfying, sharing life stories, lessons, and practical advice. It’s a common habit that has been repeated among generations all over the world.

And as they say;

Sharing is caring.

There's also another saying that goes like this (not sure);

Knowledge not shared is a knowledge wasted.

I hope you liked the tips. I would recommend you watch this TEDxTalk short video.
