I Failed! Should I give Up?

in life •  7 years ago

Those who have been following me from day one know that I left my job about four months ago and started my own business. I shared my story when I started blogging on Steemit. The results weren't the same as I expected, didn't earn a single penny and my idea of digital marketing training in my city flopped.

So after spending a lot of money on advertising, I left with 0 money in my pocket. In fact, I took loans from my friends to meet my household expenses and have to pay them this year. So I decided to join my previous employer again. It was actually a very awkward situation, I gave resignation four months ago and asking for job again was like begging someone to help me, a feeling that can't be expressed in words.

Anyways, today is my first day, as I have been an experienced person and worked there for almost 5 years, things aren't difficult for me.

But should I give up and just do this job for the rest of my life?

I will still try to build my own empire and made a plan to be implemented from the very first day.

I will be consistent with what I am doing, will be spending almost 3 hours on Steemit and keep on posting, upvoting and commenting. Adding to that, I want to be a coder, Web Development, App Development,  making programs and stuff like that. I actually have an accounting background, did my Master in Business and did an accounting job for almost 5 years but I have already said bye bye to this field about 7 months ago. I'm actually working on HTML and CSS and all is well up till now!

I know people make fun of you if you decide to change your field, especially when you don't have the relevant degree. Many people are advising me not to take this risk as I don't have an IT degree but I think you don't need any degree to achieve your dreams.

My dream?

I want to make a game, a game that will spread the message of peace (Not going to share the details here as I don't have anything to show you)

I know it's a difficult path but I guess consistency would be a key factor in deciding my fate in the next 5 years.

I love everyone who are following me and read my content.

Stay Blessed Everyone!

If you have given it your all and your not seeing results then you need to dump that idea and plan and come up with a new one. Don't fall into the trap of being so motivated on what you think should work that you miss the real opportunity. Take this from someone working online now for over 15 years.

Makes me wonder if I should start up a mini series of posts on here about my business and marketing ideas, split tests, case studies etc if anyone would be interested in that?

Yup, I am not working on digital marketing training anymore. As i mentioned, I am working on coding stuff and obviously posting on Steemit regularly!

I'd be intetested in that. I've followed in anticipation.

“The most effective way to live is as a warrior. A warrior may worry and think before making any decision, but once he makes it, he goes his way, free from worries or thoughts; there will be a million other decisions still awaiting him. That's the warrior's way.”
― Carlos Castaneda

I will keep it simple.

  • NEVER give up.
  • Be smart about making decisions. You can continue to work your regular employment WHILE you work on your other side projects and see them grow.
  • Find motivation.
  • Do not be near or listen to negative people around you.

Thanks @prince-maanisaad, doing the same!

Giving up or not is your choice.
Don't ask others!

The question you should ask people is: "What is needed to succeed?"

Effort, consistency, sacrifice, skill, intuition.
Nobody can achieve anything without these.

But there is also luck, people response, general trend.
You can't really change these stuff, no matter what you do.
You have to adjust to them.

To succeed, one needs both the ability and the opportunity.

As for giving up...
At the end it comes down to a few very simple questions.

  • "What do you want?"
  • "Why do you want it?"
  • "How much do you want it?"

It comes down to weather your "dream" is really a dream, or simply a whim.

You are doing great!! And never give up! No matter how difficult it gets. You can do this!

Thanks for reading my story @divaliciouss and yes, I will never give up!

Hello @ghulammujtaba

Starting up is never easy.

Making it anywhere is never easy, even here on steemit, but you have to keep your mind on the end goal.

It will not be easy but it is going to be woth it.

@ogochukwu

Absolutely, I even imagine daily how happy I would be once I achieve my goal.
Thanks for reading my story @ogochukwu

Look Man. I am doing the same.. I had a business, Software Company. But, I failed to and my relationship is gone as well now. But, I am not willing to give up.. Not now...

I will tell you to stand up on your feet and fight again. Come up with new ideas and innovations... And try try try... Risk it all..

Thanks for reading my story @digitalr0nin and yes, I will never give up. I hope You get success too with your plans. Best wishes from my side!

Kinda for the past couple of days had something like that happen to me as well. ..
So many job offer calls, many chances and I am currently for the past couple of months, working on my own venture and also writting here for the hell of it...mostly my soul and sanity, trying to make it here.
Keep it up! You can always find a way, just don't forget to dream...don't listen to those, who put you 'down'...good luck!

Thanks for reading my story @mylifeasgoda and I hope that everything goes good in your life.
Stay blessed!

No problem and thank you :)

I have much respect for people that are willing to take a risk to find fulfillment. Where I am in life, I will be a "corporate" guy for the rest of my career I'm sure. I wouldn't listen to anyone that makes fun. It's likely that they are bitter or jealous that they don't have to courage to attempt to find something greater. Best of luck to you in whatever you do next.

Exactly, do whatever you want, don't listen to those who always find weaknesses in your life.
I hope and pray that you get whatever you want in your life!
Thanks for reading my story.

It is always darkest before the dawn has been said . Maybe for you also ?

Yup, I hope.

I too have aspirations of moving into other fields. In my case I am a programmer with a keen interest in space and aeronautical engineering. I also have a family, mortgage and all the fun that comes with said responsibilities.

I recently read about the Learning Transfer method (https://trainingmag.com/improving-learning-transfer). In a nutshell you increase your chances of success by applying skills learning in vastly different industries. So perhaps you should find ways of leveraging your past skills , transferring that knowledge and skillset into another industry.

Keep trying to reach that goal but don't loose sight of what it took to get where you are now.
