Manage your Time
Much has been said of time management over years, and there is truth to it. What a leader must do is smart scheduling, working your time in a way that is most healthy and efficient for you. Time is a commodity that needs managing, yet you are a person who needs to keep their energy and encouragement optimal for yourself and for your company. Balance is the key to effectiveness and successful performance. In today’s business world, many people find themselves overloaded with work, and they do not how to cope with the amount or even where to begin. In these situations there is a need for energy and balance.
Have you ever been in a situation where you took on so much work that you could not finish? By the day’s end, did you feel obligated to take that work home? How do you feel when this happens? Were you resentful because your work invaded your private family life? Truly, the time at home is needed for rest and reflection. Without it, a leader will be out of balance physically and mentally. Knowing and understanding how to balance your time wisely will make your performance better and will allow the desired family time everybody needs. Also, balancing your time and energy will prevent you from becoming worn out.
There is an old aphorism that has emerged in business over the past decades, and that is “time equals money.” However, this is an old perspective. This may have been true in the industrial revolution where time and output is linear with labor and machines. The knowledge economy values innovations. Today the aphorism can be rewritten as “inspiration and creativity equal money.” Using the old standard, many people believe if they stay longer in the office and work over time they will get more done. These people often tend to view their co-workers who leave work on time as not being dedicated enough to the task and assume they did not finish their work. However, they couldn’t be more incorrect. Being able to leave on time means that an employee has used their time wisely and has managed to do their assigned tasks within the given time. The key is revising your personal time management in order to control your workflow better.
