In the US state of Nebraska is the settlement of Monowi, which bears the status of the smallest city in the United States. The town consists of one single street, and its population is just one person, performing the duties of a librarian, cook, barman and even the mayor.

Once in this town lived 150 people, but then all of them parted. Remained only Elsie Eiler and her husband Rudy. The woman's husband died in 2004 and since then the 84-year-old woman has become the only inhabitant of the settlement.

Elsie does not want to move to a neighboring city for children, since she has her own business here. In the local snack bar, truckers, tourists and people from neighboring cities who are attracted by low prices are constantly calling in.

Often here there are also journalists who make additional advertising for Monowi.

After the death of her husband, an elderly woman opened a library named after him. The library has 5000 books owned by Rudy Eiler.

Elsie herself participates in the mayoral elections, she herself keeps taxes from herself (about $ 500 per year), which she then spends on paying for lighting, and herself issues a license for the sale of alcohol. In addition, she maintains a list of free urban real estate in case someone wants to move here.

Children and numerous friends of Elsie constantly visit her, and therefore she does not consider herself alone. They bring her everything she needs and help her with various housework.

I think this is a unique case that can not be in Russia. This story shocked me, but I'm glad that such things happen in our lives.
With the best wishes, @gleb-jeglov aka Evgeny
Wow. That is incredible.
Just one person performing all duties. She deserves a recognition award.
I pray she lives longer than she is.
